  1. thanks for supplying a comprehensive and objective overview of this question without an answer.
  2. strangely, the sun is now at it's maximum distance as the earth circles it.
  3. No one other than the club owners are getting paid. This was discussed sometime last year in a thread. There should be something that will go to the musicians. I don't want to sound like a righteous saint, who I'm not, but until the artists get something, I won't join. It's only fair. the 'heroic' idea of 'keeping the music alive' wears thin after a bit. even a $20 per musician "internet tip" would be something.
  4. they hang out around reservoirs, ponds, and wetlands.
  5. The Knicks have looked rather foolish with all this PG nonsense over the last few days. Further proof, I'm afraid, that they'll never win anything. Word is they're gonna compound all the (lin)sanity by resigning a mediocre (at best) PG to a heavily backloaded contract based on a 35 game playing sample from last year. Jason Kidd has reportedly decided to sign with the New York Knicks with a three-year, $9 million deal.
  6. "a few" ---the master of understatement
  7. a superb pianoless quartet is on now at smalls until 1am eastern. the compositions are short with logic and focus. the playing is crisp and gorgeous. Duane Eubanks - Trumpet John O'Gallagher - Alto Sax Joe Martin - Bass Jeff Williams - Drums smalls link
  8. :bad: :bad: sadly, ........no begatting with fellow vinyl lovers, unfortunately.
  9. that little book has pretty much vanished. my local library sold it, probably to a rag dealer.
  10. while doing my weekly survey of thrift store vinyls(their stock is usually at least 500), i was joined by a young lady 1/4 my age, if that. she was looking seriously at each and every lp. the only chicks who check the vinyls are mommies looking for nice things for their kiddies. "i love these and try to check them out weekly. i have a turntable and listen. some are really good." trying to bridge the generational cd-vinyl gap, i mentioned a group she might possibly relate to. there's some deep purple in here, do you know who they are? "i know and like them, but i wasn't even born when they were popular. mostly i love the really cool fabulous art on some of the albums. much of it is really great. i found 6 today." no, i didn't bring up my predilection for artie shaw recordings.
  11. thx. for the kind words. ...no skill here. they were shot with a 5 yr. old nikon point and shoot i picked up in 09 from a pawnshop. the light and bird just happened perfect. what i can do in photography is to know my cameras and what they will and won't do.
  12. the larkster is on a roll!!! take another chorus or two, sweety!!!!!
  13. that has to be one of the most harebrained nba trades ever. nash's back is a disaster. when he rests, he can't even sit on the bench. am i smelling me a bynum et al-dwight howard "sign-and-trade?"
  14. folks tell me that beer bottles are going the way of the cork. some perfectly decent craft beers now come in cans. one that comes to mind is buried hatchet stout, which members of our political forums can't stand.
  15. an impressive, if not depressing number..... i've a laundry list, but chime in.
  16. i didn't feel safe at all being that close. had i been sober, i would have been more wary. a giant goose took after me not along ago when i came upon it's nest on the tracks in an abandoned rail siding. with her wings extended and scowling, eyeball to eyeball, i had no idea what to do. when in doubt, HAUL ASS.
  17. .........the better choice, for sure thank you---
