  1. thanks. the term frank wright recording excites the heck out of me. i'm so glad that some others feel the same way.
  2. I have tinnitus too, mostly due to a lifetime of sitting in front of trumpet sections and next to drummers in big bands. I don't notice it until I'm in a quiet room, then it's very noticeable. If I ever got put in solitary confinement I'd probably go crazy. I sleep with a fan on (or some other ambient noise) so it doesn't bother me at night. Occupational hazard I guess. BTW, I've tried using earplugs when I play but I never could get used to playing with them. can you hear quiet passages or sounds clearly? Yes, my hearing is still very good. The ringing is noticeable only when it's completely silent. you are a very lucky man, indeed.

  4. you did this, while knowing full well how we all feel about electronic rechannelling??????
  5. Since it miraculously disappeared and then returned, I would have this looked at. You don't want to mess around. I suffer from tinnitis and although I've gotten used to it (tuned out the background noise), it will return on occasion. Had a bad bout for a few hours on Monday. thx for the advice. i will do that.
  6. a whole new world indeed. i did use one of those $5 ear wax kits from rite aid. maybe this should become a monthly ritual.
  7. several weeks ago, i noticed that hearing in my right ear was greatly diminished. oh the mental anguish. what if the other ear goes? should i get a hearing aid? is this affecting my driving or walking and biking on busy streets??? i had to lie on only one side to hear the radio when i went to bed. i checked for ear wax and found little. this went out for at least a month. then my hearing mysteriously and miraculously returned. such unspeakable joy!!!!!! this morning i am listening to my treasured marian anderson spirituals and duke plays ellington vinyls with an appreciation not previously had. my hearing is going away. no it ismn't!!!!

  10. how many thousands of recording dates did many of those guys make??? what fab money they must have made! how many thousands of recording dates did many of those guys make??? what fab money they must have made! i snagged 3 or 4 last year. when i was by the site today, the glass insulators were gone. i have my 4 in the trunk. i got a few to drink from, their lead notwithstanding, but they won't work as shot glasses, wine vessels, or beer mugs. each must weigh 3 or 4 pounds. :tophat: :tophat:
  11. those are from a year ago. i passed the place today and nothing has changed.

  15. to me, everything about her wreaks of over production. give her a nice piano, trio, or quartet and let her do her thing. the beloved late shirley horn, (and many other vocalists) was falling into those contrivance and overproduction traps late in her career. why would shirley horn need a piano player and 85 violins?

  17. hackers stealing BMW in UK "There has been an unusual spike in the number of BMWs stolen in the UK this year, with some sources suggesting the number may be 300 cars or higher. The cars are being stolen without activating car alarms or immobilizers. The suspected method involves the use of devices that plug into the car's OBD port and can program blank key fobs, leaving owners with keys to missing cars."

  19. oblique to this matter, from the twitter------ 9:00 PM: From the Oregonian's Allan Brettman, Nike released a statement saying they have no plans to change the name of its Joe Paterno Child Development Center at its world headquarters in Beaverton.
  20. .as well as the territorial rivalries where fans could drive to every conference game. screw the fans. my ohio state friends tell me that they get hit up every year for ever bigger contributions for the rights to buy their seats, or keep the same ones they've had for 20+ years. considering the injuries to the athletes and the financial sacrifice of fans, i am not sure football shouldn't just go away.
