  1. Really????? Which tune?????????? GIVE, JSngry!!!!!!
  2. I will not confirm nor deny that Allan is correct in his post on that Bananas store.
  3. BST 84901, wolff.
  4. The one that came out on CD as Last Session. I really like it a lot, took a while, but it grew on me. Thanks for the heads up on the Classic reissues!
  5. what do you all think of lee morgan's self titled lp????
  6. 25-40 bucks sounds about right. I dunno, some days a guy gets lucky, some he doesn't. This is why I love Dusty Groove and other reissue sellers on the net...........Bought TONS of stuff from those cats..............
  7. Uh, eBay will not straighten the market out for me, boss. You and I know that sometimes some veeery choice stuff goes for dirt cheap when no one, for whatever reason, is paying any attention.
  8. Okay. Here's a request. When other people post things, I do not ever resort to calling them names or hurling wise remarks at them. Can it cease and desist towards me now? It's hurting my wittle feewings!
  9. duuuuh, consider myself LUCKY to have...............
  10. See what I mean? I did NOT know it was a fold down! I consider myself to have the following Lee Morgan stuff on LP: LEE MORGAN- LEE-WAY LEE MORGAN- THE SIDEWINDER LEE MORGAN- THE RUMPROLLER LEE MORGAN- THE SIXTH SENSE LEE MORGAN- CARAMBA LEE MORGAN- S/T Looks like more trawling for reissues...........But then again, there's always the lucky scores............f'r instance, the Caramba I got? Sweet shape with a tiny touch of cover wear for five smacks. Okay, wolff, point taken..........!
  11. wollf, I really could care less if it's an original mono copy or a reissue on I dunno, a 2005 reissue on "Jazz Happy" records or something. It's NICE to have original copies, but...........I am just as happy with say, my $8.99 reissue of Roll Call. Anyway, I meant what I said about all the members on this forum whose opinions I value. Sorry you don't believe me, but for me it IS about the music. I am just a listener, not a musician at all.......I love the music. That is PRECISELY why the guy got me so pissed.............it's $$$$ to him............that's all, just income. But he is a business man........anyway.......Sorry to offend, sorry you can't believe that I'm in it for the music. In the future, will THINK more before posting.
  12. Edited my original post, removed name of record store. You're a bunch of smart folks, you'll figure out which one it is anyway, St Pete is big, but not that big.
  13. Uh, yeah. Name calling. Swell. Not a neurotic collector, a fan of the music. I will gladly pay top dollar for stuff in top dollar shape. Also, I will pay what's right for something NOT in top dollar shape. May also have something to do with my mentality- if I have a copy of something you like, and you're a friend, hey, it's yours. The same goes for my friends to me. And as far as ridiculing him in "public".... I never ridculed him. Just warning any other potential buyers. If he feels he can tell it like it is about being an international dealer, then I feel I can also. Caveat Venditor? Caveat Emptor. I really love this forum. I read the forums every day, even if I don't post. Members like you, wolff, and JSngry, etc., all get loads of respect from me as far as your obvious knowledge and love of the music goes. Cannot argue that compared to you guys, I'm a novice. But really, I don't appreciate being called a "whiner" or "jerk".........in private, or "public".
  14. there's a record store in st pete, florida......none of their records are priced, you have to ask. they go to gemm.com and the guide, then high end you all the time anyway. the people there have always been nice to deal with, and i will admit, i've overpaid there a few times to get stuff i wanted in good shape. today i go in there, and here's a mono blue note of delightfulee.......some scratches, cover worn, split a bit on the bottom, also on top. the guy, who explains to me that it's a "microgroove" like ALL BLUE WHITE LABEL BLUE NOTES DON'T HAVE THAT STAMPED ON THEM...........then puts a sticker on it- $79.99 after looking in the guide................uh, i walked. called the place from home and asked how they figure a record in that condition which maxes at 120 in the guide can be that much dough. got a mouthful of greek salad, they're international dealers, etc. yeah, i say, but it ain't an 80 dollar copy of the record..........i also say hey, i've been a true blue loyal customer.........and the owner says he doesn't want to lose me as a customer, and asks if i'll pay 60. i say keep it, good luck in the international business.....absolutely no love of the music, and the good old american ethic of maybe giving their regulars a little bone now and then? forget it. this guy like to price 12 dollar high end cti and mainstream records 40 bucks and up. i know it's a collector's market, but..........................
  15. I do most of my music shopping online due to the crap that most music stores try to sell you.
  16. why? why? if they're playing "punk", it's blink 182 instead of, say, the damned. if it's jazz, they're playing norah jones instead of chris connor. you get the picture.....and it's NOT because it's teens working there...........christ almighty. hey, let's play some hard rock out of the four hard rock bands we know, zeppelin, sabbath, van halen, skynyrd!!!! morons. went to a local store here that carries vinyl (DID score a nice sealed copy of a horace silver comp "sterling silver"), and was subjected to SUPE LOUD ANNOYING RACIST/SEXIST GANGSTA RAP! swell, then a shoegazer/trip hop slab of crap about cereal. all so FUCKIN LOUD YOU CAN BARELY THINK. assholes! and then at the counter, the "hip" employee with a "hip" che guevera shirt...................doubt he could name the country old che lived in...................grumble grumble grumble....
  17. Everyone, I apologize for the venom, and will leave you alone now. I will return you to the regularly scheduled board and retire to a Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout and the Blue Note sounds of Mr Blue Mitchell...................cheers!
  18. The amount of ass kissing there is RIDICULOUS. Plain and simple. I think the damn place would shut the Hell down if they were told NOT TO POST ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE BEATLES!!!! Being a Jazz fan first and foremost, I spend more time here anyway...............and have yet to have anyone make wiseass statements about dead GI's. I am military, and DO NOT AGREE WITH THE WAR OR THE CURRENT REGIME, but damned if I'd stoop to ragging on my brothers and sisters in uniform, especially the ones that are gone.
  19. Steve Hoffman is an asshole with a capital A. I had some dealings on his lame board which resulted in him slagging me on the forum, then having me banned. He was basically making light of American casualties, and I called him on it. I have been USAF for fifteen years, and old Steve-o can remaster all the Foghat records he wants, but the son of a bitch can't belittle dead soldiers. Got PM's from one of his lackeys............replied in a go to Hell fashion. Here's a fun post from another forum which I agree with 110%!!!! Posted by Elektra2001 on May 17, 2005 at 16:41:38 Hi, I'm mostly a lurker everywhere I go. This includes, natch, places I guess I shouldn't be in the first place. I spent quite some time at the Steve Hoffman forums. These are my impressions... in case I'm wrong, I'll be very happy to stand corrected. 1. Steve Hoffman himself. He is an incredible and talented mastering engineer, but his attitude, frankly, sucks. He seems to believe he is head and shoulders above the rest, mistreating members and usually posting questionable stuff (which, later, gets deleted). 2. The set up for discussions. You can't make snide remarks to other members. Unless you are a friend of Steve. In which case, you can post ugly stuff (really ugly). Case in point: AF & DCC's owner, Marshall Blonstein, made a post via Steve Hoffman telling all members basically to stop posting about the defects his CD's had, implying that he would not approve of any particular member who said otherwise. Every member responded by posting "for the record, I didn't say anything bad about you". Pathetic. 3. The way all people seem to talk about CD's and remasters. There are NO good CD's by any other engineers other than Steve Hoffman. If you ask for a particular album, regarding mastering choices, the standard answer is "Get Steve's, it's the best one". While explaining that due to lack of funds this is not an option, people get rabid and post back stuff like "don't waste of time with the rest, they all suck". Pretty helpful (not), if you ask me. 4. MoFi / other labels' bashing. Most people reject any Mobile Fidelity album, posting negative and sometimes untrue information about them. 90% of the members can swear every MoFi CD has a "smiley face" equalization (whatever that means). Most of them say they don't "sound like the master tape at all" (I have to wonder how many of them actually have heard the master tape). Everyone accuses MoFi of cheating, lying, or something else. Without any proof at all. 5. The overall "Holier than thou" attitude. Although religion talk is forbidden, Steve and people of his religion continuosly break the rule, talking about their own political / religious points of view, while other members that share Steve's faith impose their own beliefs unto everyone else (and if you fight back, it's a safe thing to say that you'll be banned). What is mostly right... 1. The moderator team. Most moderators are very nice persons and do not take their job as a way to impose their views upon others. I can't think of anything else. I'm just pretty disappointed at that place. It could be a very interesting source of information and discussion, if it wasn't a place where most people carry on happy masks at all times.
