  1. I have not played everything I own. I find box sets tough to get through and through a job change the at work and commute listening time is pretty much gone. I keep telling myself to buy less and listen to what i have but it does not seem to work, i just don`t listen to my own advice very well.
  2. A laid back Thanksgiving Monday here in Canada. So far (jazz wise)have played Al DiMeola - Casino Bob Brookmeyer - and Friends (Getz/Hancock/Carter/Burton/Jones) Hank Jones - The Talented Touch Chick Corea - Touchstone
  3. Nice album. I picked up a copy myself this summer at a local record show.
  4. Now- Santana / Mclaughlin - Love Devotion Surrender Earlier - Carla Bley - Live
  5. Bought this for $1.50. Don't know anything about it but it has Clark Terry and King Curtis on it. So I figured they had to be worth 75c each.
  6. Has happened to me as well. That is how I have ended up with 2 copies of Steve Lacy / Mal Waldron - Hot House on cd
  7. Wonderful album! I just picked it up last week at our local outdoor market and have been enjoying it very much.
  8. Mid 80's F and sunny. 0% chance of snow.
  9. Jimmy Smith w/ Oliver Nelson - Livin It Up!
  10. The difference is that all the Dylan "bootleg" material was owned and recorded by Columbia (now Sony) (and I know there were some certain exceptions to this, such as the Witmark release, but by and large this is true). The Miles material may well be radio recordings, audience recordings, and the like, that were never in Sony's vaults. It'll be interesting therefore to hear the audio quality of what they'll be releasing. I am sure there are multiple sources for some of this Miles Davis material but between Sony and the estate of Miles Davis there must be a certain amount of unrelaesed material that the already own that could be made available commercially.
  11. It is about time that Sony extended the "bootleg series" idea past Bob Dylan. The Dylan stuff is great but it is not like he is the only Sony artist that has great music waiting to see the light of day.
  12. i picked this up today. the back cover notes are upside down on the one i got. not sure if it is an error or not. this is the only copy of this i have ever seen. Yes, I sat in the cheapest sets which were onstage at the side of the band. Dizzy did his usual gag of saying, "Now I'd like to introduce the members of the band" and took Les Spann up to the piano to shake hands with Junior Mance. Most of the audience of my age (19) were just there to see Brubeck who had something of a mass following at the time, but I'm pleased to say that I was already digging Dizzy and Bird. That is funny that the cheap seats then are the expensive vip seats now. how show must have changed.
  13. Great disc! I have it on HMV vinyl with a label of this sort: I saw that Gillespie band on tour in 1959 with the Dave Brubeck Quartet and the Buck Clayton All Stars. mine is on the black verve label. paid a whopping $2 for a really great lp. I imagine the show in '59 was awesome.
