  1. Dan, the idea , as I understand it, is not to pick out your favorite recordings by an Artist, but to select some that you enjoy, even though it is not generally considered a great album. So even though there are many records by DEXTER I would rate higher, I nonetheless have a soft spot for The Resurgence of Dexter Gordon . I would put Dexter Blows Hot and Cool in the same category.
  2. Robert Schumann - Piano Trio No.3, Op.110 and Fantasiestucke Op.88
  3. As best I recall, this Dexter album has usually been considered among his weaker recordings by reviewers and many listeners. Yet though not one of my favorite Dexter albums, it is one I have long enjoyed quite a bit.
  4. I saw this group live a few times at the Bamboo Club in Detroit in the 1960's. It was the George Bohanon (Trombone) - Ronnie Fields (tenor Sax) Quintet with Kenny Cox, piano, Will Austin, bass, and Bert Myrick, Drums
  5. As far as I know, there has not been a box set of the Lester Young 1956 recordings in Washington,D.C
  6. Piano Sonatas - No.28, , 30, 31, 32
  7. 2 String quartets - C Major and Op.75
  8. I find record reviews stimulating me to pull an album/CD off the shelf and listen to it. Having a very large collection, there are very many recordings I have not heard in a long long time. So a review gives me an opportunity to refresh my memory of that recording, and perhaps hear things in it that I was previously unaware.
  9. String Quartets D.68, D.94, D.173
