  1. A highly interesting thread. Not being home with all my jazz books, etc. makes it hard for me to check any sources to contribute to this topic.
  2. Piano Sonatas No.8 through No.26
  3. My first Blue Note acquisition was Art Blakey - At Cafe Bohemia -when it was first released on LP. It was my first exposure to Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham, Horace Silver and Blakey. It was the key that opened the door for me to be a serious fan of those wonderful jazz musicians from that point on to today.
  4. HutchFan, I suspect you are referring to Cesar Franck. I do know his piano quintet and like it. However the string quartets I posted are not by him. They are by a different composer, Eduard Franck which I like quite a bit. I have tended to search out composers from the Romantic and Classical periods that are less known. Now playing - Symphony No.1
  5. Ok, I will pick 5 of my favorites. Maybe tomorow, I would have a different selection? Jackie McLean - Jackie's Bag Sonny Clark - Cool Struttin" Horace Silver - Finger Poppin' John Coltrane - Blue Train Art Blakey - At Cafe Bohemia
  6. It is tough , if not impossible, for me to select my 5 favorite Blue Note albums. It would even be difficult to select my 10 or 20 favorites. But only one on your list - Blue Train - would be among my true favorites.
