  1. Mark, Thanks for calling Buddy Montgomery to our attention. His album on Sharp 9 has long been one I very much like. Below is another nice album under Buddy's leadership.
  2. Sonny's Back is a good album, though I prefer a few of the other Sonny Stitt / Barry Harris dates. Night Mist is, in my view, a truly outstanding album. Not a fan of Arthur Blythe or Weather Report.

  5. Schubert - Piano Sonata D.959 and Beethoven - Violin Sonata No.2, Op.12/2
  6. Dan, you may recall that I said that I liked most of the Gene Harris albums on Concord quite a lot. My sense is that the Three Sounds albums were much more arranged with more restrained and less creative solos by Gene as compared with his playing on the Concord recordings.
