  1. Thad Jones & Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra Hank Jones - Tommy Flanagan - a tie for two of my all time favorite jazz pianists Richard Wyands or Duke Pearson (as pianists) Elmo Hope or Duke Jordan
  2. I consider Hardman a very fine and serious player, at the same level as Hubbard and Morgan. All 3 have their really fine moments, and sometimes the level drops a bit for each of them. Blue Mitchell is another top player who may be perhaps just a hair below those 3? Walter Davis Jr. he swings far more that Tucker Sonny Red Kyner - more soulful than Jenkins Sal Nistico - Tubby Hayes plays a lot of notes very fast, but lacks the depth I hear in Nistico's tenor work. Milt Jackson. or Cal Tjader Pete Jolly. or Lou Levy Harold Mabern or. John Hicks Illinois Jacquet or. Arnett Cobb
  3. What Hutch Fan said - Hubbard by an eyelash Ben Webster or. Budd Johnson
  4. Joe Magnarelli Junior Mance or. Ray Bryant
  5. Hearing aids are something I probably need. I have problems with clearly hearing people speaking unless they are close and facing me. My wife is always telling me to turn the volume down on the TV. But other then preferring the volume to be a bit up, I have no problems listening to music on my sound system. When outdoors doing my usual 2 to 3 mile daily walk I am now using AirPod Pros, and find them very very good for listening to music from my iPhone. I am likely missing some of the highs, but am not really aware of it. There are so many stories of people unhappy with their hearing aids that it makes me very uncertain about going that route. Also, don't want to do anything to lessen my enjoyment of listening to music via my sound system and AirPods Pros.
  6. Abercrombie and Frisell -neither do anything for me. Al Cohn or Zoot Sims - impossible to pick one over the other - both are strong favorites Phil Woods Junior Cook strictly as a tenor player . Wardell Grey Jimmy Raney or Tal Farlow
  7. J.C. Higginbotham Hodges or Carter - a Tie Art Blakey or Roy Haynes
  8. Buster Williams for me Percy Heath or Milt Hinton
  9. John Gilmore though not really a fan of either. Two West Coast pianists - Russ Freeman or Hampton Hawes
  10. Haydn - Piano Sonatas No.11 & No.13 and Beethoven - String Quartet Op.18/2
