  1. Here is a game which I saw on another board. You post an album cover which contains something visual which matches something visual in the previously posted album cover. Not words or album titles-something visual. An example: Here the match is the common bottles of alcoholic beverages in both covers. It can be anything in the previous cover.
  2. Yeah, he seems to have been trapped in something that he referred to as "the real world". I didn't quite understand what he was talking about, but it seemed scary, whatever it was.
  3. Now that you mention MG, any idea what happened to him? He's been absent from this forum for almost a year now; he disappeared when I was still a moderator, but I have no idea why he's no longer here. By the way, Weizen is also a moderator, but I don't know if he's still active.. I have emailed The Magnificent Goldberg from time to time. He is fine. He had some family matters which took up a lot of time, when he left the board. Now he says that he may return to the board at some point, but is a little bit reluctant because of the large time commitment. I suggested that he read and post on fewer threads. I wish that he would come back here.
  4. Even in my early 1970s rock fandom, when I was listening to all kinds of hard rock of dubious quality, I never liked Uriah Heep at all.
  5. I think that their early stuff was intelligent, unique and quite good. To me, "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville", from their "Reckoning" label, is the best song ever about being stuck living in a small, isolated town. Some of the lyrics, and the overall feel of the song, capture the experience perfectly. Our family moved to Wausau, Wisconsin when we were all partway through school, and none of the kids liked it at all. We all counted the days until we could move away. I mentioned to my brother once "that song about Wausau" and he knew immediately, with not another word, that I meant REM's "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville." He will still refer to "Reckoning" as the album with the Wausau song on it. At some point they became just another rock band, to me. But the early recordings can not be easily dismissed, I think.
  6. I have that "gorgeous" CD! Many of Crumb's covers are great. The famous rock album covers are not his best, in my opinion.
  7. I think that the line between comic style album art, and hand drawn album art, is not always easy to determine.
  8. Here's a link to many album covers by Al Hirschfeld: http://rateyourmusic.com/list/monocle/the_album_art_of_al_hirschfeld
  9. The thing is, it seems to me that if the threads that are repetitious and contain points being made over and over again were generally closed, there would hardly be any threads left on the board much of the time.
  10. It could be that the people who tore the house up did it to sell the materials. That happens in Kansas City a lot. Anything made of a metal which can be sold, and which is not locked up or guarded, is likely to be physically ripped off of a building, bridge, utility installation, anything.
  11. There's this entire series, one for each year from the mid-1950s to late 1960s:
  12. Oh, that copy must be autographed by Allen, that would explain the increase in value and price.
  13. So the well deserved favorable reviews are rolling in. I disagree with him on the middle disc, which is my favorite.
  14. Here is a link to 88 album covers by R. Crumb: http://rateyourmusic.com/list/darb321/album_covers_by_r__crumb
  15. No "apparently" about the Chiefs. Andrew Luck could have played for Carolina this year, now he will be with the Chiefs next season.
