That is one of the rarest french EPs : one example known. The owner is Alain Antonietto. I have just done a copy for me... The recording is not very good, anyway Clarke, Michelot, Simmons, Gaudry, Bacsik, ... what a line-up !

Found this rare item a few months ago. BirdandDizzy, for your information, Bacsik remains in background through the whole session! Yeah, I just love this album. Bacsik his really great on the background and very good harmony with the piano. There is also other recording with the same personnel (you also found the EP) : "Art Simmons" and his orchestra, recorded 9 november 1959 for Ducretet Thomson w. Clark Terry, Eric Dixon (fl, sax), Art Simmons (p), Elek Bacsik (g), Michel Gaudry (b), Kenny Clarke (dm) and Billie Poole (voc). So sad, Billie died this year in May. My friend Art Simmons is proud of this album and that's one of the few albums where you can hear -even in a bigger band- the trio of the Mars Club... (--Art, if you read this message...!--) --Steven

"Quentin Jackson" recorded february 1960 in Paris (Ducretet Thomson). w. Quentin Jackson (tb, voc), Clark Terry (tp), Art Simmons(p), Elek Bacsik(g), Michel Gaudry (b) & Kenny Clarke (dm). Is this the only album under his name ?

Thanks for your kindness !!I think Chaney said "Busted" cause you now know (from the link) that he really isn't 18. Now, for my being 17... Of course "Le jazz c'est une musique de jeunes qui veulent rester vieux." "Jazz is a music of young people who want to stay old." (yes in that order) Henri Texier [Pardon my English ] -> that's also my favorite album of the "Blue Stars" vocal group ! -

Hello everybody, I'm desperate to find information about the English jazz guitarist Terry Donoughue. He was married with the English actress Bertice Reading. I really appreciate how he played on 3 French albums : * Art Simmons - "Piano aux Champs-Elysées" (Art Simmons (p), Terry Donoughue (g), Bill Crow (b), Dave Bailey (d)). Recorded in 1956 in Paris. LP 10" BAM (Boîte à Musique) reissued on CD in the collection "Jazz in Paris" (Universal), you can listen extracts of this album on Amazon.com. -> This album on Amazon.com * Aaron Bridgers - "Music For Dreaming" (Aaron Bridgers (p), Terry Donoughue (g) & Herbert Marchl (b)). Recorded in Paris, 2nd half of the 1950s. -> Exists only on LP 12" GEM (Guilde Européenne du microsillon). * Art Simmons with Terry Donoughue, Bertice Reading (voc) and others. LP 10" BAM (Boîte à Musique) ?-1956 My friend Art Simmons would love to talk to Terry Donoughue. Maurice Summerfield, specialist of jazz guitar, who is English, can't help. Please contact me if you can help. Thank you --Steven

Jim, On Summertime it is not Bacsik, it is the Coco Briaval Trio Coco Briaval on www.djangostation.com One note Samba and On Green Dolphin Street : Regarding to the archives of the INA (Radio and Television french archives) Samba de uma nota so was broadcasted in 'Jazz sur scène' the 14 august 1966 on the channel Paris Inter. The recording (of the concert?) was the 8 August 1966. About the musicians the INA only gives Georges Arvanitas on piano. I wanted to send him the recording of the concert but he died 2-3 months ago. But we could suppose Jacky Samson (b) and Charles Saudrais (dms). Nothing about the location, ?-salle Wagram. Best Steven
