  1. They also seem to have the Monk (€50), Wes Montgomery (€40) and Bill Evans (€45) Riverside boxes incredibly cheap (although they don't seem to currently have tehm in stock). Does anyone know if these are the 12x12 size boxes or just the slipcase ones that seem to be sold in some places in Europe? I am assuming the latter given the price. Even so... They also seem to have some OJC cds at €2.99 but finding them means going through each artist individually unfortunately. I have no idea whether or not these are in stock though.
  2. Yves I received the Woody Shaw box today. It's in great shape so thanks Denis
  3. I have just received the box from Amazon.co.uk For anyone who is interested they still have two copies in stock at £117.99. Townsend Records (thanks Rod) also seem to have one at £112.99. There do seem to be quite a few kicking around though. Thanks for all the advice guys.
  4. I was there too and was very surprised at the poor turnout - I'm not even sure it was 50% full. I'd never heard any of his music before and generally prefer small groups but I had a fantastic time - his enthusiasm was infectious and the band themsleves (possibly excepting the guitarist!) seemed to be having a ball. I'd be very surprised if he came again, though, given the turnout. Where would he play?
  5. Thanks for the help guys. Amazon.co.uk have 3 copies in stock (well two strictly speaking - consider my sorrows drowned ) with "more coming soon." Is there any chance that this is being reprinted?
  6. I was in HMV Oxford Street today (trying to "drown my sorrows" after a crappy job interview ) and noticed that they have a copy of 2 Ts for A Lovely T. It's £145, which for 10cds I thought was a tad pricy! I've had a look online and searched the board but there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of info on the set. Can anyone tell me anymore? It seems to have been limited but I don't know how limited. Is it still in print? And most importantly is it any good??
  7. Just received this email from hmv.co.uk: I am writing to you in reference to your order placed via www.hmv.co.uk for the following item: Cat.No: 093614 Artist: DAVIS, MILES Title : CELLAR DOOR SESSIONS: 6CD: BOX SET We have been informed by the supplier that the release date has now been delayed to 6th February 2006. Your order for this item will stay active until the release date, and we will not take payment for the item until the goods are dispatched to you. Suppose we should be thankful that it's not 2016!
  8. If they were going to release it as a Mosaic, what additional material would they add? It's hard to see them doing anything less than three cds nowadays.
  9. Thanks for the advice Kevin. I think that I am going to try and get it resurfaced this week. I maybe should have mentioned that I had spare Curtis Fuller and Art Blakey (all except disc 4) Mosaic individual cds to trade if anyone had the spare Larry Young. I have added this to the original post.
  10. I recently bought the Larry Young Mosaic set on ebay but unfortunately there is a very small scratch on disc 4 causing it to skip. I know it is a long shot but I thought that I'd check to see if anyone happened to have a spare copy of this disc in mint or near-mint condition. I have checked with Mosaic and they are out so you're my only hope. I maybe should have mentioned that I had spare Curtis Fuller and Art Blakey (all except disc 4) Mosaic individual cds to trade if anyone had the spare Larry Young.
  11. How do you know his name? ← I asked myself the same question, so searched for Morton and it says that cheques should be payable to Brian Morton in the payment info. It would make me more likely to buy from him if it were true! Illogical I know.
  12. I've had a look at my copy and the recording dates listed match up with the Columbia albums. I have seen a Herbie Hancock Jazz Door cd that looked like it was taken from his Blue Note recordings with Donald Byrd and Pepper Adams. It does seem strange that they mix their releases between unreleased stuff and widely available recordings.
  13. In the main they do deal with live recordings that aren't available officially but some of their Miles Davis ones are just copies as far as I can tell. They have a double set that I think is just a replica of the concert with Gil Evans that Columbia has released.
  14. It is made up of tracks from the official CBS releases (Complete Concert, Miles in Tokyo, In Berlin) so if you have these it certainly isn't worth buying. It obviously doesn't contain all of the music from these albums either.
  15. I recently bought the Mobley and asked how many copies they had left of it (and the Elvin Jones) and was told that they weren't in danger of selling out.
  16. Thanks for the great response. I have provisionally agreed to buy each cd (I told you I was impatient!), so hopefully, as long as the cds are in the expected conditions, I'll have them before I go on holiday. Thanks Amir. Unfortunately I live in London but I will have a look when I go to New York in May. Denis
  17. Thanks. I saw that on hmv.co.jp (which has a great English language site) but I am quite interested in the alternates. I would imagine that they will eventuallty release it as an RVG but I am just impatient! Unfortunately Medina doesn't seem like the type of thing that will be "RVG-ed."
  18. I am looking for the following Blue Note Connoisseur cds: Bobby Hutcherson - Medina/Spiral Freddie Redd - Shades of Redd in near-mint condition. I am prepared to pay very good prices for both, in particular the Hutcherson. Thanks Denis
