  1. The new Zara-Concord Corporation is born! Fashion and music (or fashionable music) for everyone!
  2. I wonder who on hell has chosen the covers as "from the five Must-Have Jazz records of all time"! "Monk in Italy", Coltrane's "The European Tour" and "Stardust"? Now gimme a break!
  3. According to the usual discographies, the three Sol Yaged discs on the Lane label are:

    Patti Bown

Looks like it still remains reissued! Reissued or unreissued? (that is the question)

  7. Received mine in timely fashion. Now you have me worried! Realize I am on the other side of the pond but would like some confirmation that the disc is on its way here... Same here in old Europe!
  8. Three nice eulogies of BR have been published in the last issue of VJM, written by Malcolm Shaw and other two friends/colleagues.
  9. Got the disc for a quite reasonable price from a seller at amazon.de. Thanks for the help!
  10. But just wait until you hear these three new 15-minute live versions of My Favorite Things that were just turned up. Paraphrasing Martin Williams.... where's the melody? We should get back to the 78 rpm discs: three and a half minutes per song is enough. Solos of more than three choruses should be forbidden!
  11. I don't need more Coltrane.... really.
  12. Fascinating 19 minutes long two-part movie about how a 78 RPM record was made in the famours Victor Camden plant in NJ. Titles in German, but narration in impeccable English. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tDKfgux0Fk&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jutW-TgX16U&translated=1
  13. From Lord Discography:

  15. After twenty years, the Spanish jazz magazine Cuadernos de Jazz has decided to stop making its printed edition. Cuadernos de Jazz was currently the oldest and the longest-ever running jazz magazine in Spain. The editor has published a brief note stating that the magazine will go online and that they will bring back the contents of early issues: http://cuadernosdejazz.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1132>
  16. A new Vic Dickenson recording is always great news! Just ordered this through Jim Galloway's website.
  17. This book was updated by Richard Johnson and Bernard Shirley and is available at http://www.rustbooks.com/books2.php. Regards, Agustín
  18. Thanks, I'll follow that path if I can't find a reasonable priced physical copy. Guess I can download it from Spain.
  19. Very sorry to hear that Brian Rust died. I use the CD-Rom edition, and go back to it very frequently. A true legend in the field of jazz discography!
  20. Looking for a reasonably priced copy of this CD. (I'm not sure why I missed it when I hunted most CH Chronological Classics discs!) Please, sent PM or email me at ekebbbapg@yahoo.es Thanks in advance, Agustín
  21. Thanks for the heads up, Marcel and Guy!
  22. In the not-very-probable case that you don't have the complete Art Tatum's Solo Masterpieces recordings for Pablo (life would be much harder without them!), Pablo/Universal has just reissued them as a cheap 8-CD box-set. It sells for about 22 € in Spain. Minor flaw: no liner notes, just the basic discographical info.
  23. My database of jazz discs says I'm about 7.500 discs, with several remarks: a) it also includes mp3 (the recount can only be done by item, not by format) b) multiple box-sets are counted by the number of individual discs (this is, a 5-disc box-set contributes with 5 discs) c) discs with more than one leader are duplicated (this is, a Gonsalves-Terry leaded disc is included as one disc by Gonsalves and one by Terry). Classical, flamenco, rock and pop discs are stored in my attic and are part of a different database.
