  1. It's been a looong while since I last listened to this set. Still going through disc 1, which is mainly composed by ARC recordings, with those corny lyrics and bland arrangements. Even so, you can still enjoy Berigan here and there... plus you have those wonderful Boswell Sisters recordings.
  2. On the contrary, I can live with a 51th Tatum cd. 😀
  3. Over the last few days:
  4. Triple YES, that is for me!
  5. Stride pianist Joe Turner and blues shouter Big Joe Turner, often mistook in web pages and even discographies.
  6. The Hot Club of New York announced the passing of Jan Evensmo. I got this information last night from fellow board member @Fer Urbina: "This morning we learned the sad news that Jan Evensmo has left us. For those who aren't familiar with this name, he was an amazing jazz fan, scholar and discographer who created the jazz 'solography.' His work is available for free at https://www.jazzarcheology.com/. Jan was a great influence on Charles, myself, and many others in the Hot Club community, and he would often visit Hot Club meetings on his visits to the states. His work has been an invaluable resource in our programming." Jan was a true jazz lover and enthusiast, a generous human being and a nice guy. May he rest in peace!
  7. This book is getting huge promotion efforts, with presentations all over the Spanish geography, which are typically accompanied by a concert from a varying group led by Ignasi Terraza (natural inheritor of Tete Montoliu's piano tradition in Spain) and Horacio Fumero (longtime bassist in Tete's trio). My viewpoint, in a nutshell: it IS a nice book, though NOT a great book (in terms of documentation, original research and comprehensiveness).
  8. From Lewis Porter's Substack page: https://lewisporter.substack.com/p/for-the-new-year-new-tatum-with-nat
  9. Currently delving into the East Broadway loft days chapter (1966).
  10. Sonny's RCA period (obviously ), 1962-1964. Particularly, the "The Standard Sonny Rollins" sessions were spread all over June and early-July 1964.
  11. Don Byas Mosaic, disc 1
  12. Clarified. VAT payed to FedEx. Last time I order directly from Mosaic.
