Beware of all related to Planet Music! I used to purchase CDs through their on-line store (and everytime I was to Barcelona) without any problem: good prices, quick delivery. But just before they closed (of course I didn´t know anything about this matter), I made a big order. My CDs never reached my mailbox, but my money was gone (debited in my credit card). Of course, their site was gone, no replies to my e-mails, and no contact telephone! I´m arguing with my bank and VISA; and I will demand Planet Jazz (or whatever they´re called now) to the Office of the Consumer! So, beware of all related to Planet Music!

Adam´s apple: a total masterpiece, because both the playing and the compositions

Though I tend to prefer Mingus´ smaller ensembles work, and though this recording is sort of "greatest hits revisited" (only one real new composition, "Celia"), this band sounds with total perfection and arrangements and new vissions of earlier Mingus´ themes are superb!!! I like Mingus´ bass sound, which you can hear in the front-line like never before! It´s in my top-ten Mingus recordings (don´t know now if in my top-five) This album of the week thread is a very good idea!

Wonderful recording! From his work with Dolphy, I´d add the two Prestige volumes "At the Five Spot" (1961) and "Memorial album" (1961). He was included in Coltrane´s Africa/Brass sessions too!

For an intricate ride on CT´s music, try "It´s in the brewing luminous" (Hatology, 1980). It will take more than one listening...
