  1. Ensayo issues of 'Ten To Two Blues' (both LP and CD versions) incorrectly list Slide Hampton's ‘Last Minute Blues’ as Tete Montoliu’s ‘Blues To Line’. This also happens, either as a mistake or as an appropriation, on a different recording from 1973, issued on RTVE Música CD: 63013 — Jazz En España 1 (2005). In fact, this sort of 'appropriation' was quite common in Montoliu's career. I am preparing a short essay on the issue. On the contrary, Enja issues of the abovementioned recording, under the name of 'After Hours', correctly lists the Hampton tune. BTW, 'Last Minute Blues' timing is incorrectly listed in this LP back cover. It is exactly the same as in the Ensayo issue, above eight minutes.
  2. Many thanks, Mike. Peter Trunk is listed on the back cover of the Opera EP as the bass player on this date. However, according to Albert Mangelsdorff, it could not be Trunk on bass, as by that time he had left the Albert Mangelsdorff Septtet for a short time. Al King is the suggested bass player in the Albert Mangelsdorff Discography. As for your offer to make an MP3 when you visit the Jazz Institute at Darmstadt, I will email them with my inquiry. And, again, many thanks for your help!
  3. Tete Montoliu is seen playing piano at Joan Manuel Serrat film 'Palabras de Amor' (1968)
  4. It is exactly the same album. It was issued as "Ten To Two Blues" by the Spanish label Ensayo, and as "After Hours" by Enja, both in 1971. Subsequent LP and CD reissues have followed the same guidelines.
  5. If anyone owns a copy of this LP, please contact me via PM. Many thanks!
  6. Up again. Maybe this time...
  7. To the best of my knowledge, this has never been issued on CD. Only reissue was the Complete Commodore Mosaic boxed set, from ages ago. There were a couple of LP reissues:

https://www.discogs.com/label/217716-Timeless-Historical Timeless had a "Timeless Historical" sub-label focused on traditional, or at least "classic" jazz. Some outstanding releases there, for example The California Ramblers or The Goofus Five CDs.

  10. Tenor plus string orchestra day...
  11. "The soloist: Coleman Hawkins His setting: the lustrous sounds of a large orchestra His nickname: ordinarily "the hawk". But in this album, a golden glow surrounds his vibrant playing, and he becomes, "the gilded hawk".
