  2. My memory of Belgium is kinda hazy, but I do recommend Lambique [lots of it], crepes, and definitely go visit Brugge, like the others have said. A wonderful town that was spared by both world wars. DO NOT DRIVE INTO BRUGGE, it's a nightmare!!! Instead of Paris I'd hop on a quick train to Amsterdam.
  3. My wife thought it was quite funny. But then again she moved here from Europe only about 4 years ago...
  4. Last night I placed an order for $360. This puts a serious dent in my cd buying budget for this [and next] year. It'll be shipped to my office, naturally... otherwise it could turn ugly at home.
  5. Zidane's a PUSSY! Here's what a REAL MAN would've done.
  6. What makes you say that?? Could you please avoid talking in the name of so many people you don't even know including myself? I know that your president has a slight tendency to speak for the rest of the world, but we aren't like him on this forum, are we? You already made hints about France having bribed Brazil in the quarter finals, now you are putting words in their mouth about the incident with Materazzi..... I have been reading French papers and I have watched a lot of French TV programmes since Sunday and I can assure you that what you are saying is a load of rubbish. Comment dit-on 'quand on ne sait pas, on la ferme' en anglais? I reserve the right to speak out of my arse!!! Apprenez comment vivre avec cela, mon semblable, mon frere. HAPPY BASTILLE DAY!!!! It would've been nice to escort the Cup through Arc de Triomphe, alas... PS- Nice job on the fonts. Took you a few minutes, didn't it?
  7. Looks like all of France is very comfortable with laying the blame for their loss on Materazzi [or anybody else for that matter]. Comment dit-on "weasel" en francais?
  8. Lol ... I hear plants respond well to music, especially jazz music.
  9. Somehow the novelty of the incident completely wore off on me. Basically I'm gearing up for the Euro 2008. Perhaps we'll see the old Zidane yet again. Italy and France are in the same group.
  10. Up before it moves to eBay.
  11. Couple of intersting news bits this morning - both Klinsmann and Lippi have resigned as head coaches of their respective teams. My feeling is that Klinsmann might be hired as the next manager for the US Team, being that he resides in California and speaks good English. Please post the news articles regarding Zidane's interview on French tv tonight!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Juego Bonito, motherf@#ker!
  13. ZURICH (AFP) - FIFA has opened a disciplinary investigation into the actions of French skipper Zinedine Zidane who was sent off in the World Cup final for head-butting an Italian opponent. A FIFA press release said that in a dramatic final there were incidents towards the end of the match that they wanted to clarify. "Referee Horacio Elizondo sent off French player Zinedine Zidane for an act of violence against Marco Materazzi in the 110th minute," FIFA said Tuesday. "The incident was directly observed (without the use of a monitor) by fourth official Luis Medina Cantalejo from his position at the pitchside, who informed the referee and his assistants through the communications system. FIFA will open a disciplinary investigation into Zidane's conduct to enable it to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident as exactly as possible." Zidane became just the fourth player to be sent off in a World Cup final when he rammed his head into the chest of Italian defender Marco Materazzi in th second period of extra-time knocking him to the ground. The referee did not see the off-the-ball incident but pulled out his red card after consulting one of his linesmen. The game went to penalties which Italy won 5-3. Any disciplinary action against Zidane will be largely symbolic as he has already announced his retirement as a professional football player.
  14. $110 shipped. Mint in/out.
  15. AND NOW - THE MAN OF THE TOURNAMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. My wife just got off the phone with her friend in Paris. Her explanation of the head-butt is that Materazzi said something very offensive about either Zidane's mother or sister moments prior to the incident. Anyway, that's one Parisian's take on this...
  17. What a dick-head!
  18. I am VERY curious to know what prompted Zidane's head-butt? Any ideas on the matter? I am positive that he had said something very deragatory to Zidane prior to that.
  19. Congrats to the Germans! A well-deserved win. This young team has a very bright future. My favorite German player in this World Cup is Philip Lahm. He has all the potential to become one of the all-time greats.
  20. Usually when I'm in LA I satisfy my vinyl urge at the Record Surplus on W. Pico, but I'd like to check out the Record Collector this time. Allegedly they sell choice vinyl at premium prices. TIA
  21. Excellent. Now that you've found her, save yourself some tsores, have a name tag made for the little rascal. PS - How about a pic?
  22. Another disjointed, ugly game...I'm glad it's over. I'm also glad the divers are not going through to the Finals.
  23. Can't say that I enjoyed yesterday's match; aside from the overtime it was a boring mid-field communal jerk-off, pardon the crudeness. Also, would someone please fit the Podolsky kid with some decent prescription spectacles. He alone could've made the game for the Germans. ... a couple of times. I'm hoping the Fra-Por game today will be worthy of the WC semi-final.
