  1. More than one curious jazz fan has met his demise after scratching himself with a rusty Bill Evans box. One of the victims was the French composer Jean-Baptiste Lully.
  2. Now listening to the Joe Roland cd on Bethlehem, bizarely re-titled as Vibe Players Of Bethlehem, Volume 2. One of the less interesting re-issue jobs by Bethlehem, pretty lame liner notes, no personel listed, no recording dates, etc. But the music is as they say, FINE. I'm really digging this one a lot! It was a major discovery for me. I never heard of Joe Roland before. What was the original title of this LP? Any details on his career? This guy totally slipped under my radar.
  3. Congratulations, Comrade Ruster!
  4. Ahh, Sedona...a wonderful place. Bought a roll of film there for $10 back in 1998. Try New Mexico. Same new age vibe as Sedona, costs way less.
  5. Has anyone seen this book - THE ENDLESS CALYPSO [sonny Rollins' Later Years] ?
  6. In a nut-shell, everything and anything recorded from 1973 to 1983 is a keeper.
  7. Speaking of packaging oddities - several years ago, after returning from a local record fair I was surprised to find a tightly rolled joint inside the jacket of "This Is Our Music" . They knew a thing or two about customer service back in the sixties...
  8. I bought this little vinyl number from Paul and the fit was perfect, shipping speedy and satisfaction complete. Thanks, Paul!!!
  9. Times have changed, Jim. Many people are just waiting to sue you. Especially people of lesser means, people on welfare and . All they do is watch day time tv full of personal injury lawyers commercials. And act on it. Imagine if one of these kids trips on a garden hose in Berigan's yard and breaks his/her hand...
  10. I smell potential trouble. This is what you do - 1. Go to the local cops, make a report that you saw 2 unattended children, names, date, time, witnesses. Cops will probably notify child protective services, but it won't be your business any more. 2. Send your neighbor a certified mail [very important!] letter stating that you saw her grand-kids[?] on such and such date, and they were unattended for x number of hours and you think it's unsafe for their well-being to run around unattended. Save the receipt and a copy of the letter for your records. If the kids show up unattended in your yard again, call the cops right away. Zai Gezunt
  11. Was wondering when the 1st Berkeley Jazz Festival was held. Thanks.
  12. Have a very happy birthday!!! And the best of health to you. Please post more often.
  13. You may be confusing 2 different albums. 1st O&ND came out on Black Saint in '76 2nd O&ND came out on ECM in '79 3rd O&ND came out on ECM in '80 4th O&ND came out on Black Saint in '87 The end.
  14. Is this material included in the infamous Fantasy/OJC European box?
  15. Bird, Hawk, Prez, oh baby!
  16. This story is getting weirder by the day! I'm beginning to like it! Pictures from the accident scene and a mug of the "passenger" [aka driver].
  17. I don't like the Iridium. Wait staff ferries food and drinks during the shows, which is very distructing, so is listening to your neighbors crunching iceberg lettuce in your ear; You will NOT get a good seat if you don't order dinner even if you arrive at the door a day before the show. If you do decide to splurge for the dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine, don't be surprised to receive a bill for $200 [including the entertainment charge].
  18. This is really something!!!!!! Great poster! You get Phineas AND Sun Ra. Where did you find it? I have found most of my stuff at the record shows in town. I bought it on eBay about 2 years ago. Guaranteed to be authentic, to the last tear and water stain.
  19. I was a fool not to pick up the Lp set when Tower Records was basically throwing away all the Mosaics they had in stock. I did pick up 2 Ellington Capitol cd sets for $20 each. Jazzbo is right - that Kenton set is HEAVY.
  20. Pardon my obvious ignorance, but what exactly constitutes a jam band?
  21. I know I'll be sorry for asking this, but how Big are you now, Al?
