  1. I think it's selling for 1/3 of what it used to fetch 10 years ago. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Music/11233/i.html?_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_nkw=cole+mosaic
  2. Was just perusing eBay for the prices on the Chaloff set, and I think it went down by much since I looked last , 5 or so years ago. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=chaloff+mosaic&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc
  3. For some reason or another, there is a dozen Chaloff sets on ebay now. I thought it was sort of scrace, but it's quite the opposite.
  4. I wish I saw the Gennaro Gattuso #8 AC Milan shirt he sold for a measly $9. That was a good teal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-Milan-original-XL-t-shirt-NEW-n-8-SIGNED-by-Rino-Gattuso-intact-Champions-/311848680158?hash=item489ba13ade%3Ag%3A0ssAAOSwzqFY85Ln&nma=true&si=ym0%252B8S2GYmn9SIYv3KOjEpBBcKc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  5. Wow, what a price someone paid! Great to see that. Could be a something I've never heard, or could be a compilation of soome tracks from the albums each of them did for the Philly Jazz label..? Byard Lancaster- EXODUS PJ-1001 Khan Jamal - THE RIVER PJ-1002
  6. Scott, you are the Dwight K. Schrute of this forum.
  7. I don't think you're alone. I also ordered the Clifford Jordan set. Still on the fence re:Threadgill. Have a couple of his Novus cds, might listen to them. It's been years.
  8. Bullshit, Scott. I didn't call anyone a fraud.
  9. Well, I think because most of those who will purchase the Benedetti set now, will do so as an impulse buy. The real Bird lovers have bought theirs a long time ago.
  10. I don't know how many sets I have, but it's not 125. Does anyone have every single set they've issued? I want to see the photos of your hoard.
  11. Imho, the Benedetti is one set that'll be the easiest to find, if Mosaic shutters up.
  12. Yeah, I read that. Just reading 'between the lines' now.
  13. I'm assuming the backordered sets are not to be pressed?
  14. This reads like a good bye letter. Good luck to you, and godspeed! Whatever you do, I'm looking forward to buying music from you again...and again. And again.
  15. Really? Didn't know that. Yeah, I wonder how he feels about the sound in that place, because it's pretty bad from the audience's perspective. that Sonny Rollins tribute gig was a killer. Boy, can those cats play. James Carter was killin'. The chops on this guy are something else.
  16. Nice one, Ken! I was surprised to see many familiar names from the Southern New England scene - Dave Zinno, Adam Nussbaum, Dino Govoni, Steve Langone, Greg Abate of course...all local cats gigging around Providence. I'm blessed to be living away from New York, but still having access to top shelf musicians. Not everyone here can say the same...
  17. Not bad, imho. I learned something new. It's certainly better than Amanda Petrusich's piece on Sonny Rollins in the same magazine.
  18. April 29th 2017 SUNY Purchase - Tribute to Sonny Rollins Tenors - Jimmy Heath Ravi Coltrane Eric Wyatt Joe Lovano James Carter James Brandon Lewis David Hazeltine, pianoTodd Coolman, bassVictor Lewis, drums https://tickets.artscenter.org/single/eventDetail.aspx?p=6144 A very nice tribute indeed, this was a multi-saxophone blowing session of a very high caliber. After that, went to the Knickerbocker Bar & Grill, across the way from NYU. Surprisingly, I'd never been there before. Michael Weiss, piano Kenny Davis, bass ???, drums This place has the worst accoustics. All I heard from the bar was the drum set, nary a piano note. Bizarre. Hasn't anyone ever complained?! So finished my drink, and went to Wo Hop instead. Hot & Sour soup, vegetable chow fun at around 1-30am. Nice.
  19. Did you see the table with all the Mosaics? Most of them were priced for selling. He had 3 boxes of them, probably 20+ titles in total.
  20. Yeah, I think so. It's the same with antiques also. Most trades take place the day before the shows open to the public. The early buying at WFMU attracts people with serious funds. One seller from Jersey City told me he sold 2k worth of records on Friday. I was tempted to pull a trigger on a hand-painted Sun Ra Sleeping Beauty record, but it was priced out of my comfort. Surprisingly to me, many punk records were priced very high, some in 4 figures. Go figure.
  21. Went Saturday. Forgot how big this place was. An unsettling number of dealers and buyers. I love the friendly vibe. Got 5 or 6 records. I've been on the Miainstream gatefold kick lately, so got a couple of those. Noticed an oddity - very few original Sonny Rollins, Bill Evans and Miles albums in the bins.Usually you see them, they are quite expensive, but they are there. Not this time. Possible reason for that ...I saw several Japanese pickers, so they must've been cleaning up the original pressings. One young guy in particular I saw at a few tables that I was browsing, he had a DISK UNION-headered pad on which he marked the number of albums he was buying, and the prices. Must've been either an employee or a commissioned picker for them. Probably a non-English speaker, he was conducting his trade with just pointing and making hand jestures. Another older Japanese guy who didn't speak English was also picking up serious jazz stock. The market for 45s must be strong in Japan, they were actively buying those. Original R&B was going strong also. Many young kids, a good number of women buyers. Had a great time, spent about 4 hours there.
  22. You bought in Park Slope? Congrats. Love the neighborhood! I just drove through it yesterday. We're going to a bathroom showroom this week. Gonna pick out some tile and hardware. I'm prepared for the sticker shock, I think. Like it's been said - quality fixtures and quality work cost money.
  23. Let us know your impressions. He's pretty popular for some reason. I saw him with Enrico Pieranunzi at the Vanguard, and it was the weakest band I've heard there, for sure. Starting with the leader.
