  1. I like these series: they are cheap, they respect the original artwork and the sound is good. The only problem is the selection: some of them are very good, but with others they include a very good album with other avoidable (I am thinking in Pharoah Sanders or Albert Ayler). About this new planning to release, I like Marion Brown, Alice Coltrane and Blue Mitchell. The Sonny criss set is awful, but Impulse archives didn't have any better release from him...
  2. If the european edition is the same (next week I will have it), I have others digipacks without any place to fix the booklet and my only solution to avoid missing it was to maintain the original wrap paper or to use another plastic to cover the digipack. In this way the booklet won't fall down when you take the digi. PS: With the years I have finished hating any type of digipacks, specially when they are so fragile as the Masada Book 2 from John Zorn - Tzadik...
  3. Many thanks for the welcome! I'm sure that now I will learn a lot more, because until this moment, only reading thes forum I have done it! I suppose that a WSQ box is probably near to be out. Maybe DON PULLEN (it will be a great selection!) or PAUL BLEY too.
  4. I'm a bit curious about how Taborn sounds in this CD that I will have the next week being part of one of my recent orders. I like a lot his work with other artists (Berne, James Carter, Chris Lightcap...), and I love albums like Junk Magic too (the same that Nu-Bop from Shipp), but I think that this will be the first time that I will listen to Taborn in a solo format. Speaking about other ECM release, recently I have bought "Vespers" from IRO HAARLA and I think that it will be a CD which improves with future listennings. At first it left me a bit cold, although I liked a lot moments when Haarla plays harp. However, Eick does a great work, but in my opinion, the best is Seim which sounds powerful and enigmatic at the same time. Greets!
  5. But Jazz Thrash seems to live in Spain.......... Yes I'm from Spain. At first, when I pre-ordered the box-set, the release date was Sept.19th, but one week ago it changed to 26th. I don't mind, I can waiting a bit more, hehe (unfortunately, when I pre-ordered, Amazon.es didn't run yet, and actually, It isn't possible pre-order it at this moment, otherwise, I would have the box in my house the next day of the release date).
  6. Another one who has pre-ordered it! It will be out the 26th of this month, and I am impatient to have it! Probably this is my favourite group from Miles Davis. If you listen to recordings from Plugged Nickel, when the quintet was in forming process, you will have some of the more adventurous music from Miles. Greets!
  7. David Murray fan, and John Zorn fan, Wadada Leo Smith fan, Miles Davis fan, Charles Mingus fan... etc... Many thanks for your answer: probably you are right. I don't have the original vinyl, but in the first CD reissue, mastering volume is a bit different and for that reason Harris seems to be more present in the record. Anyway, I think that this idea from CAM jazz is good: a cheap form to have a great part of last seventies and eighties Jazz. It deserves the buying, although you have any of the CD included in each box. Any bet about the next bunch of boxes? Greets!
  8. First: Hi to everyone, because this is my firs post, although I have been read the forum since a long time. Speaking about Black Saint / Soul Note box sets, I have all of them, and the last that I purchased was DAVID MURRAY, because I had 3 of 5 CD's included yet. Anyway, I have a little doubt: I think that the remastered work has a little fault in the "New Life" CD. If you listen to "Blues In The Pocket", you will listen to Craig Harris' trombone solo (from 5 minutes to the end) at an extremely low volume in the mix, while the other instruments are balanced. Has anyone more noticed this? If this is true in every copy from that CD, it will be the first "bad" remaster from these boxes, because the others have a very improved sound. Greets!
