Reminded via another forum`s Enja Records thread .... a moving trbute to the late Ed Blackwell .... btw both solo and accompanying work of Mark Helias is simply superb ....
Rickie Lee Jones "Rickie Lee Jones" (Warner Bros Records) 1979 .... tis superb Norman Seeff photography caught my eye immediately, when buying this platter as new release ....
Conjunto Constanza "La Zurrapita" (Salsa Internacional) 1982 .... the second album for the label maintained the quality ...., some great bass work by Orlando Felix and the coro of Milton Cardona + José Mangual Jr. really gets going ....
Conjunto Constanza "Consejo" (Salsa Internacional) 1981 .... lead singer Rafael Ramos with begging vocals and the trombone only horn section adds to a darker mood ..... btw the tracks has a short "bridge" of distant rhythm before the band catches breath again .... excellent ....
Believe also Charnett Moffett - who left us too early - should be mentioned as "underrated" .... a superb bass player whose recorded legacy doesn't feature any "milestone platters" unfortunately ....
Still believe the original DoLP featured the strongest tracks .... which is - based on the quality of the recorded material - quite an achievement ....
