  1. One of the best Al Green performances ever tucked away in shortened form as a 45 b-side in 1975 .... majestic and devastating at the same time .... It`s hard comparing voices and although there is no discussion about the status of Al Green even on the Hi Records roster there were strong competitors like obviously O.V. Wright, but als more unknowns like the excellent Willie Walker to name a few ....
  2. I believe also his voice shares simlarities with Al Green although not in the same class ....
  3. Thnx .... didn`t know that ....
  4. Robert Cray with Hi Rhythm covering O.V. Wright .... not too shabby ....
  5. The dominoes were falling in order here for Roland Kirk ....
  6. Easily the best "Al Green Song" never performed by Al Green .... even Syl Johnson`s f´recording should have been a hit .... but in 1974 the sun for soul music already was going down steadily ....
  7. Waiting for the extended reissue 😪 ....
  8. This is an excellent new release ....
  9. A love that never grows old ....
  10. Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes feat. Teddy Pendergrass "Wake Up Everybody" (Philadelphia International Records) 1975 ....superb LP, no filler all killer ....
  11. I would be interested in your findings/faves .... let us know .... Btw : One of the best Soul albums from the 70`s not known by too many .... : Available via Spotify I suppose ....
  12. Thnx for the accolades, man 😇 .... As a matter of fact a lot of great soul voices were released on 45`s only ..... so the LP is less of a factor and the dependance is reissue companies is a fact. Obviously Ace ist a reliable powerhouse regarding the matter. So some more suggestions : Compilations and (when church marches in) All these come highly recomended and listenig to them should help to find preferences/how to go on forward .... of course a pleasure being of help if needed ....
  13. Yes .... : Both "must have" compilations hands down ....
  14. Annie Lennox from the CD Booklet „Medusa“ (RCA) 1995 ….
  15. In case a mix of Blues and Bayou Music is requiered : Sonny Landreth "South of I-10" (Volcano Records) 1995 ....
  16. This excellent John Hiatt Cover with gorgeous Bonnie Raitt harmonies a highlight from a rather uneven Buddy Guy Silvertone album (1993) ....
  17. Some excellent George Cables work on said platter ....
