  1. Ah, yes, I thought about it (saw it a few months ago in used CD store here in Montreal) but as I already had most of Moncur's Blue Note output... Wonder why it hasn't been reissued as a single CD, it certainly would have its takers.
  2. The "Hipnosis" session on YouTube (sure would be nice to have it on CD...)
  3. Haven't spent too much time the 3 Sounds over the years, but listening now to "It Just Got To be" reminds me (in a good way) of John Wright's Prestige albums ("South Side Soul" and cie)
  4. Trombonist Willie Dennis studied and played with Tristano ("Chicago April 1951", on Uptown, or Ronnie Ball's "All About Ronnie" on Savoy). Trumpet: Don Ferrara? (on Lee Konitz's "Very Cool" with tristanoites Sal Mosca and Peter Ind)

    Donald Byrd

When he plays to his strenghts (mid-tempo, mid-range), Byrd certainly has one my favorite trumpet tone.
  6. With the same (great) band (+ vibraphonist Al Francis), I think "New Ideas" (Prestige, 1961) is much more enjoyable
  7. Relistened recently to the JHB album (I really like Jerry Hahn's sound and solos on Gary Burton's Country Roads & Other Places): there's some really good tunes on it, and Mike Finnigan has a great, soulful voice (and plays some tasty organ to boot).
  8. (an unexpected find at a nearby used cd store yesterday )
  9. Under different titles I see. Thank you Chuck.
  10. My "Jazz of Two Cities" comes from the Marsh/Tristano "Intuition" twofer (Capitol), so I just recently discovered online the 4 tracks recorded a few days later by the same quintet ("Ben Blew", "Time's Up", "Earful" and "Black Jack"). On CD, is there any other way (than this Fresh Sound edition) to get these 4 tracks?
