  1. Watched it last night. Well done journey into darkness. For some reason it's hopelessness and sense of being trapped in an inescapable horror reminded me of ' I Am A Fugitive From The Chain Gang'.
  2. Deliciously well written and enjoyable. It really does feel like a long lost , previously unpublished part of the cold war series. He brilliantly recaptures the prose, mood and atmosphere of his great work. So good I'm keeping in check my natural impulse to binge read the whole thing.
  3. Engelbert Humperdinck Richard The Third Quasimodo
  4. Sink The Bismarck - Lewis Gilbert (1960) Classic naval film with liberal lashings of stiff upper lip, especially Kenneth More.
  5. Janis Joplin Big Brother Big Bopper
  6. Cheers. Will watch. It slipped under my radar.
  7. Baby Driver - Edgar Wright (2017) Entertaining.
  8. Season two was dire. Sorry.
  9. The Deuce Episode 1 Really well done. How did they create such a convincing looking 70's NYC ? Re Ray Donovan I think we all get the domestic thread without the drawn out flashbacks breaking up the rhythm of the story. They might have filmed a wholly different storyline and then scrapped it. Not wanting to waste the footage they came up with the multiple flashback thing. It doesn't work.
  10. Patrick Patterson Don Patterson Booker Ervin
  11. George Coleman Philip French Louis Maille sic
  12. Jack The Ripper Rip Torn Young Tearaway
  13. Ginger Rogers Ginger Baker Candlestick Maker
  14. The Man From Laramie - Anthony Mann (1955) Damage - Louis Malle (1995)
  15. Doubtless that was the image intended. Victorian Limehouse and Whitechapel were areas with large numbers of Jewish people so a monster of sorts stalking the streets would have fit in with Golem mythology. Nothing stopping you checking it out, my take is only that. If you haven't seen Murder By Decree then I'd recommend it as a much better film. Christopher Plummer, James Mason and Donald Sutherland are just three of the excellent cast. Doubtless that was the image intended. 16. He is, isn't he. In this he acted like he'd just done a bunch of heavy sedatives. Sadly, dial it in is the phrase that comes to mind.
  17. Sam & Dave Soul Man Son Of A Preacher Man
  18. The Limehouse Golem - Juan Carlos Medina (2016) Another variation on Jack The Ripper. Watchable but undeserving of the sparkling reviews. Murder By Decree is still the undisputed champion of the Ripper genre.
  19. I think you'd like it. It manages to pack a lot of ideas in and the characters are real and easy to relate to. His family become a bit overbearing and that is the main weakness of the plot. Holly Hunter is really good.
  20. Enchanting & magical.
  21. The Big Sick - Michael Showalter (2017) I liked it.
