  1. I have to admit... the poem made me laugh. A backhanded compliment, perhaps? Reminds me of a cat at the local blue collar bar I play often here in Lansing. I had just got done with a set and sat down next to a regular Joe. He was a bit drunk and said, "You know, I really like the way you play. You play real good... <pause>... but you look like a fuckin' dork!" Then I let a friend of a friend sit in and the guy says, "That fucker is a piano player" (He was playing my B3). "You can tell," he says, "he sounds like shit. You sound real good. But you're as stiff as a board up there. Loosen up, motherfucker!" Nice guy.
  2. Hm... I'd have to go for pumpkin just because I don't have too much experience with sweet potato pie. The experiences I've had have been bad. At today's gathering I had myself a fine piece of apple pie. Yum yum! My favorite pie of all time, however, is lemon merainge.
  3. Root Beer for me. Since the wife is expecting I've stopped drinking wine and other alcoholic beverages with her. Fair is fair.
  4. I've thought about that. The whole situation never sat well with me. Not that I thought Greg didn't deserve some kind of reprimand for that whole situation... You know, this is hard part. Honestly (and I hope this doesn't make me look like a wimp) I've become friends with a lot of you... personal friends. I mean, I've met Dan in Florida (great guy), Paul (Conn500)... Sangry and Moose and Rooster post so much I think I know them. It's difficult to stay objective in this situation. My brother is much different. He doesn't really care for jazz, doesn't know many of you very well and the problems we discuss, his first instinct is usually a lot harsher than mine. That comes from his experience on other boards, mainly video game based boards that get more than their fair share of young, stupid boys logging in just to make trouble. The rules they have on some of those boards make this one look like paradise. The goal is to find a balance between heavy-handedness and light heartedness, between personal relationships and objectivity. I'm hoping that this new system can help with that. With it I can say, even to people I consider good friends, "Hey man, that wasn't cool. Here's one warning." Hopefully they don't get pissed at me and a week or so later I take the warning back (they aren't permanent, ya know). The Greg thing was definately not cool. Dan's response wasn't cool either, but understandable given the circumstances. Maybe both should've received some warnings, maybe a possible "time out" period of no posting and then every would go back to normal. I'm looking for input here. Should we welcome Greg back? I have nothing against it personally. Yes, he pissed me off. Did I handle it correctly? Yes and no. Was there some personal bias behind the decision. Yes. Did he deserve some sort of punishment for his actions? Yes. Should he come back? I'll leave that to you guys. One more note concerning Wingy. Please please please PLEASE... unless it's directly aimed at you and is threatening to you or your family... ignore him if you know you don't like him. I'll say it yet again. Version 2.0 of this software will be out this coming January with full ignore implementation. Until then, please censor yourself. Don't read his posts, don't respond to them if you do. If you think they're above and beyond, let me know. I'm trying to work this out fairly with all involved. I admit I like Danny. I know people like him in real life from being a musician. I'm somewhat used to that stuff. I realize some people are not used to it and don't want to be. That's fine. But let's deal with it like adults. Tell me. Email me. PM me. I won't complain about it like the other day, I promise! Ideas, opinions, criticism, comments... fire away.
  5. I found it.
  6. Where is this homophobic post? I'm serious, I can't find it. Maybe it's because I only got three hours of sleep last night, but... Quote or link, please?
  7. Wow. We all truly need help.
  8. I now have the following people on the "Non-Political List": J.A.W. EKE BBB Gary Late Clunky GA Russell Jim R Any other takers?
  9. There's moonlight, or so I hear.
  10. Just for clarification, nothing has changed except implementing a snazzy little graphic under your names for me and Use to keep track of things with. We have over 500 members now and I need a reliable and easy system for keeping track of trouble. I honestly don't see using this much, but if we do it'll help keep track of where people stand. What are "warnable" offenses? I'm not quite sure yet. I'm open to suggestions. I'm basically still relying on you guys to police yourselves but this is a midway option between saying nothing and banning. This gives people a chance to see where they stand and gives us some play in enforcing the rules without flat out banning someone. Again, I'm open to suggestions. I'm not going to be watching all of you like Big Brother. I don't have time for that. I will still appreciate "Report This Post" links or emails or PMs to me from people who think I or Use should be aware of something.
  11. Now I have the following people on the "Non-Political List": J.A.W. EKE BBB Gary Late Clunky GA Russell Remember, if you suddenly change your mind, I'll have to manually change your status so you can read/see the political forum. You can always PM me too if for some reason you don't want it to be publicly known that you want to be a "non-political" member!
  12. pepe, glad your here. If you would like to not have to see the political threads, please read THIS THREAD for details on how you can do that.
  13. Thanks, EKE BBB. I thought everyone could see the bars, but it turns out only you can see YOUR bar. That works a little better (and I changed my first post to reflect that). You have 0% of your warnings. There are only five blocks. Each block represents two warnings. It is my hope we really won't have to use this system, but it will provide a relatively easy way for Use3D and I to moderate the board. We will provide explanations to whomever we might warn, explaining the reasons behind doing so. Will we never just give you a warning without letting you know what you did!
  14. .:.NEW as of Nov. 27, 2003.:. We have implemented a new warning system. Below each member's name is a warning bar that goes from green to red. Warnings will be issued for behavior and/or language we deem to be worthy of action. Members may amass 10 warnings before their posting privileges are revoked. The member will not be banned at this point, however he/she will not be able to post for an amount of time to be determined by the moderators. Warnings will last for one month after the day of the warning, at which time they will disappear. If the warning bar fills up more than twice, the member may face banishment. If we find that members are purposely goading other members in order to increase the warning bar of that member, we will revoke the posting privileges of the provocateur. It is our hope that this system will help maintain the civil and friendly atmosphere we currently enjoy at the Organissimo Forums. Thank you for your understanding and as always, comments and criticisms are welcome.
  15. Revised November 27, 2003.
  16. So far I have the following people on the "Non-Political List": J.A.W. EKE BBB Gary Late Remember, if you suddenly change your mind, I'll have to manually change your status so you can read/see the political forum. But for now, you shouldn't see a darn thing! Anyone else?
  17. I have the regular domestic release and the sound ain't that great. In fact it has that "warped record" sound. It's weird. Maybe they lost the master tape?
  18. The truly frightening thing is he probably will win.
  19. It also doesn't belong in the Organissimo Forums Discussion forum. So I'm moving it, k?
  20. Nope. No hum at all. Never had a problem with it. It sounds pretty good too, although I'd like to upgrade the tonearm (a Rega 300 I think) and the cartridge at some point.
  21. Speakers: B&W CDM SE1 Preamp: Adcom GFP-750 Amp: Adcom GFA-5400 CD: Arcam CD-72 Tuner: old 70s Pioneer Turntable: VPI HW-19 Jr. w/ McCormick phono stage and Grado Red catridge Nordost Red Dawn interconnects I like my system, but I had a nutty idea the other day. I have two Leslie tube amps sitting on the shelf. If I modified them slightly they would be basically Class A monoblocks with four 6L6s each. I bet they would sound SWEET too. One of these days I'll get around to it. A buddy of mine just got some B&W 802s like ol' GregM's pic up there. He also has the Musical Fidelity NuVista CD player... most amazing CD player I've ever heard.
  22. Is that Eric Alexander on the screen?
  23. Such a shame. They look so good in the pictures.
  24. Speaking of Mosaic, I heard they uncovered some lost records by Larry Young from back in the late 60's that nobod.... Ah forget it.
  25. Time to make an analog to digital copy of it, my friend!
