  1. You know what's sad? I finally found a SEALED copy of this on Ebay and I bought it last summer and I haven't listened to it yet. I just cannot make myself break the seal... it's a mental thing. I love Chambers and I love Young but I also love virgin vinyl and I just can't make myself open it. Am I disturbed?
  2. When all is said and done, the rating for "The Scorpian" is a crime against soul jazz. That record is BAD!
  3. And then there's Pete Fallico's great page: The Doodlin Lounge
  4. I have that disc. Nice stuff. I reccomend it. Lonnie plays very well with that trio. They also did those two tribute discs to Hendrix which are worth picking up too, but I like Afro Blue even better.
  5. People don't want to go to jazz clubs anymore. They don't want to have to sit in an audience and be quiet and pay attention constantly to the music. That's just not what people want to do. If jazz clubs are going to survive they are going to have to change. Ron Blake and I have talked for hours about this.
  6. Oddly enough, the Solovox was made by Hammond. It is indeed a crude, tube based synthesizer but considering it was made in the 40s...
  7. I believe it is, sir. It was one of the album covers posted in the "silliest record covers" thread and I thought the doll was really freaky so I'm using it as my profile pic! If it gives you nightmares, I'll remove it!
  8. Lions won TWO in a row!!! Prepare for the rapture!
  9. Out2Lunch, good to see you here again!
  10. Does that include cars? BTW, at least one of my neighbors was using a kind of leaf vacuum, which would suck all the leaves into a bag on his back which he would then dump into lawn waste sacks to be picked up by the city this coming Wednesday. The other moron (who's also a racist, I might add... I was having a conversation with him when he referred to his neighbords with the "n" word) was blowing them into the street. I raked 7 bags worth yesterday but ran out of bags. And that was just my front yard which is the size of a postage stamp (maples... beautiful, but very leafy!) I'll finish the job tomorrow.
  11. Wow Chuck. A little harsh, doncha think?
  12. The worse part is one of my lazy neighbors is blowing the leaves into the street which the city explicity says not to do. Because people do this, the city comes by at 5 or 6 in the morning with huge dumptrucks and back-hoes to clean the leaves out of the street. You can imagine the noise that makes. FOOLZ!
  13. THE LEAF-BLOWER! God knows I hate them. As you all know, I make my living as a musician. As such I go to bed in the early morning (last night about 4am) and sleep late in the day. I woke this morning to the sound of my neighbor using a leaf blower outside my bedroom window. What is the point of these things? Are they really any better than raking? I raked my leaves yesterday and I find the activity enjoyable. It's good exercise, it gets your body moving, it's repetitive so you can do it and think about other things and IT'S FUCKIN' QUIET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should be out-lawed. It's noise pollution. Pure and simple.
  14. And don't buy any Louis Armstrong from the 20s or 30s. I'm telling ya man, the sound quality is horrible!!!
  15. It's called "taste". You can't teach that or get there by playing scales at a million miles per hour.
  16. Thank you, Bev! I'm glad you enjoyed it! We're hard at work on the next one...
  17. Yeah and Eddie stole tapping from Steve Hackett of Genesis, what's his point? The guy obviously doesn't know anything about jazz or he wouldn't make such stupid comments. Was he saying that he himself could play anything Stanley Jordan played or Eddie Van Halen could play anything Jordan played? In either case he would be wrong. Tell him to learn a Wes Montgomery solo and get back to you.
  18. Nero is a good piece of software. For simply dividing up audio, it should work fine.
  19. OH THE INSANITY!!! I just got an email from my wife who is on the emailing list of a local piano player. Guess what? Our gig got cancelled for tonight and they hired his trio. Now, I'm happy he's working, but that is some shady-ass business right there. Cancel a date you've had on the books for months (and cancel it a week before the date) and then book someone cheaper. LAME!!! Guess what restaurant I won't be eating at?
  20. Well, the silver lining is that I haven't seen my wife the entire week we've been so busy, so tonight is date night. I asked her to a movie and she cried. Ah the hormones of a pregnant woman!
  21. Well, this is ok but I wish I could figure out how to get the horsepower UNDER the hood, like most people.
  22. Wayne Garcia sent me some pics from the show.
  23. We will be playing this worthwhile event next weekend:Saugatuck Dunes Fundraiser
  24. I'm getting really sick of reading articles about the "embattled music industry". Is it just me or does the press like to cast the music industry as a wounded victim?
