  1. Performing with organissimo tonight at Bell's Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo! We start at 9:30pm! See you there!

  2. I'm actually working on a solo record that melds prog / electronica / and jazz. With lyrics. And me singing. I'm in the writing phase right now but I'm cataloging ideas and musicians I want to use for the project. I'm about halfway done with the writing portion. I'm trying to finish up at least the writing before I go back on the road with Janiva. The rest will have to wait until next fall / winter. The song I just wrote is a little mini-suite (think something off of Wind & Wuthering by Genesis) that I'm really happy with. It takes you on a journey, which is what I'm trying to achieve and something I think a lot of prog-metal and modern prog doesn't really do. The modern stuff is more about chops and technique. Anyway, when I get to the actual recording phase where I have to pay for studio time and musicians, I want to set up a Kickstarter and see if people are interested.
  3. How cool is this?
  4. I'm going to install code for Google AdSense on the forum again. I tried it a few years ago and didn't really care for it but the site is not self-sufficient for me, even with the donations from members. So I figure we'll try the AdSense route for six months or so and see what happens. I'm just waiting for my PIN to be delivered via snail mail and then the ads will be placed. There will be one in the sidebar on the index page and one at the bottom footer for all pages.
  5. Three girls down (including Alison), one to go. Any guesses who the last one is awake besides me?

  6. Kids have been up since at least 5am. Got us up at 5:45. I went to bed at 2am. Yeah. Merry Christmas!

  7. Holy moly! Zora is actually asleep. Already! She's never fallen asleep this early on Christmas Eve. All the kids are snuggled in bed. We can actually get a head start on the presents! Yay!

  8. The reason why my pecan pie is so good? How about 2 eggs, an entire stick of butter, a cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of white sugar, a cup of chopped pecans, and a teaspoon of vanilla to top it off. I could eat the mixture raw and be happy! :)

  9. Quote my wife a moment ago as we flipped channels and landed on Austin City Limits: "This song is horrible. I can't even really hear it and I hate it."

  10. Need your piano tuned before the family gathering? Now's the time! Call me to set up an appointment for this week! 974-4815

  11. Randy under the mistletoe?
  12. Stella's lyrics to a holiday classic: "Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree. Oh you and me, oh Christmas tree."

  13. Bump for 2011! One of these days we'll record some new ones. Not this year, however.
  14. We got about $30. Thanks to this thread, we finally understand why we suddenly got a check from Capital One.
  15. Wish my stomach would settle down. It's been three days of this. Bleh.

  16. I still haven't seen Titanic. Does that make me cool?
  17. Nothing like your back going into spasms while changing the nastiest poopy diaper in the history of mankind. Do I let go off the poor child and let her skid mark across the floor or do I finish the job while my back goes into full charlie-horse mode?

  18. When Suzuki Musical Instruments bought Hammond in the early 90s they also purchased Leslie. The new 3300 is one of the best Leslies ever made, imo.
  19. Oh Triple D... why must you show awesome BBQ joints? Damn.

  20. An A100 will sound good through almost any dual-rotor Leslie. A model 122 would be great; a 147 would be great, too. Likewise the 47, 22H, 21H, 251... lots of options. The new Hammond Leslie 3300 would sound killer. It's all based on your budget.
  21. Well, sometimes government does work and rather quickly. My wife got her Ingham County Health Plan card in the mail today, after applying last Friday. It was supposed to take two weeks! The next step is scheduling her surgery. But at least part if not all the surgery will be covered. Whew.

  22. Today would've been my dad's 71st birthday. I think it's appropriate that I'm in the middle of refinishing a piano right now. :) Happy Birthday, James Theodore Alfredson Jr. December 6th 1940 - May 8th 2008.
