Is it too early for a baseball hot stove Thread???

Good question! I really liked him, but now feel he juiced up. I would say no...unless Bonds gets in. Then you might as well put McGuire in as well. Perhaps we can have a steriod using wing of the HOF. -
Have a great one! Perhaps someone will give you an Avatar today!

sure. Be sure to have some fava beans on hand, and a nice chianti.

After cleaning it...it only has a V-6 in it! My Dad and I were not up to picking it up in Connecticut, so our friend Gregg was nice enough to pick it up for us, and bring it on down. He lives in ATL as well. He got about 18 MPG on the highway, which isn't as good as my 69 Buick LeSabre gets. Sometimes a small engine a 3 thousand pound car works harder than a v-8 would. We will see what it does after a tune-up, carb rebuild, etc. Gregg got up there just in time to be snowed in by the Blizzard! That's why you should never do a favor for a friend.

I think you had Cary Grant on the brain when you wrote this! You meant to say Gable picked Fleming, right? I remember reading in a book that Gable didn't want want George Cukor directing because he was a "woman's" director. I also read in another more National Enquiresque book that Gable didn't want Cukor cuz Cukor knew Gable when he was younger, and had slept with a few guys to get ahead...so to speak...who knows? Another vote for Only Angels Have Wings. Really like the redemption angle.

I've heard talk like that before, but you and the others are wrong! Silents, and pre-code films (July 1934 and earlier, there was a code, just not enforced til then) are in many ways more "adult" but like Alexander said, the films and the filmakers afterwords had to be more creative, and for the most part were, IMHO. Sure, I wouldn't have minded seeing Carole Lombard completely nude in My Man Godfrey, but the film wouldn't have been any better. Any time I see a big time actress get nekked in a film, I know the nerd of a director has called all his friends after the shoot, bragging about how he convinced her to do it because it was vital to the film.

That's what I keep telling myself! Don't really have a choice. Just about anything I eat causes trouble, heck a big glass of water can as well. I had some gall stones, took Actigall, which disolved them over time, but still had lots of stomach problems. So, had another test (HIDA scan) which checks gall bladder function. Well, mine doesn't for the most part. Something like 7% function, which impressed the surgeon I saw last week.(Most of the patients he see have 13 to 18% function.) I often impress for all the wrong reasons. So anyway, amazingly enough, I am scheduled to have the sucker ripped out tomorrow(Thru the belly button! ) Outpatient surgery. I have known 2 women that had the surgery, and they both had a fair number of complications, but both had infected gall bladders that had to come out NOW. Last week I have talked to 2 more women that told me it was more or less a piece of cake. They can eat mostly what they did before the surgery. So, there have to be a few here that have had them taken out, what was it like???? Thanks.

I think the Rangers would be an excellent choice for Roger...I heard rumors a few weeks back. -
Man, they will put ANYTHING out on DVD! Well, in Canada at least, it isn't for sale in the U.S. version of Amazon right now. Actually, watching it on Showtime in the early 80's, I remember it being pretty funny. But then again, I was 13. And since they felt compelled to have many topless women(it was cable after all) that might have made it seem like a even more of a quality show! Whatever happened to John Byner, anyway?

Happy Birthday, Brownian Motion!

God said to wish you a happy birthday...and he also said the avatar was cool as well. -
There's an old movie theater in downtown Bloomington that's been restored and is now used for a variety of purposes. Once a month they show a classic Hollywood film on Sunday afternoon--yesterday it was NINOTCHKA. I'd never seen it before, so my wife & I went (sat alone in the balcony--felt like a 1940s kinda date!). Very entertaining film, and ideologically very strange at times... plus, I liked Garbo's character much better before her Western transformation! That stovepipe hat she ends up buying looked ridiculous, as was the white gown... ironically enough, the plainer Soviet duds she wore looked far more stylish by today's standards. Great dialogue--the screenplay was co-written by Billy Wilder, and I believe it was one of his earliest projects. You liked her more as a commie? Shocked, shocked I am! I read that she couldn't really give a hearty laugh, so her laugh was dubbed! Sure are a lot of unregistered folks on this thread.

Perhaps Kurt wrote it for her a few years back...

Well I'll be. Granted, it was back in 2000, but still, I wouldn't have thought she was this smart.... http://www.salon.com/tech/feature/2000/06/14/love/index.html

Weather folks always seem to forget how it gets colder after a big snow, especially at night.....no sense digging the car out, the snow plows will pile it up over your car's roof anyway. -

In the late 90's at least, Borders offered 25% for employees, 33% off for part-timers(Full timers got $30 bucks a month book credit then as well!) and for Employee appreciation day, you got 40% off!

I can't go to that site.

Just like anyone in the medical profession, you get good ones, and bad ones. My Dad went to them since the 50's, swore by them. The one he had gone to forever was a minor miracle worker, I went in one day limping, came out a new man(I was a boy actually)So, I thought they were all like him, wrong! Went to a couple of quacks in Jacksonville, for a bad back and neck. Just took my money mainly. A 3rd one did help with my neck, but my back never saw any improvement.
