  1. Oh... a lefty! Someone will sign 'em!
  2. I saw them run on Nick at Night years ago, they ran the black and white ones that I don't remember as a kid...they seemed even funnier. Buck Henry wrote at least some of the shows...
  3. Man, did I watch this show a lot in my youth! Bet a lot of folks here did as well. Check out his age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don Adams, TV's fumbling secret agent on `Get Smart,' dies at 82 By BOB THOMAS Associated Press Writer September 26, 2005 Don Adams, the wry-voiced comedian who starred as the fumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart in the 1960s television spoof of James Bond movies, "Get Smart," has died. He was 82. Adams died of a lung infection late Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his friend and former agent Bruce Tufeld said Monday, adding the actor broke his hip a year ago and had been in ill health since. As the inept Agent 86 of the super-secret federal agency C.O.N.T.R.O.L., Adams captured TV viewers with his antics in combatting the evil agents of C.H.A.O.S. When his explanations failed to convince the villains or his boss, he tried another tack: "Would you believe...?" It became a national catchphrase. Smart was also prone to spilling things on the desk or person of his boss Thaddius (actor Edward Platt). Smart's apologetic "Sorry about that, chief" also entered the American lexicon. The spy gadgets, which aped those of the Bond movies, were a popular feature, especially the pre-cell-phone telephone in a shoe. Smart's beautiful partner, Agent 99, played by Barbara Felden, was as brainy as he was dense, and a plot romance led to marriage and the birth of twins later in the series. Adams, who had been under contract to NBC, was lukewarm about doing a spy spoof. When he learned that Mel Brooks and Buck Henry had written the pilot script, he accepted immediately. "Get Smart" debuted on NBC in September 1965 and scored No. 12 among the season's most-watched series and No. 22 in its second season. "Get Smart" twice won the Emmy for best comedy series with three Emmys for Adams as comedy actor. http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/apps/pbcs.dl...mplate=dateline
  4. Yes, the nice 1979 Mach V, I mean Mark V. Couldn't have happened the crappy, rusty 1975 continental we also own. No, I didn't expel from either direction! Too shocked I guess. I'm just glad I didn't wreck the car, I think since I had a split second to see the rock, or grenade, whatever it was helped... if it had been at night and didn't see it and heard that loud pop, I might have ended up off the road, and possibly into a creek!
  5. Thanks, yeah just have to pay a $100 deductable...little nick on hood as well I have already had to replace the hood twice (don't ask!) so that could have been worse. Amazing your windshield didn't break!
  6. I never saw this thread before....which considering how many time Evan brought it back to life, is amazing! Looking at the first photo, I would agree with Chris(A first, naw a second!) that he looks like a gal....
  7. There is no wrong answer, cuz really I don't know either!!! I was going about 35 on a 2 lane road about a half a mile from home. The sun was in my eyes a bit, and I had about a second to react thinking it looked like a 3 inch rock coming up from the road, I guess from a truck that was going the other way...there were tiny fragments of glass over my shirt and shorts. Amazed it didn't go thru the glass...where it hit, the glass feels like a piece of plastic wrap! There is plastic over it now, in case the car ends up outside and it would rain
  8. Was tripod part of a trilogy???
  9. Well, N.O. is flooding all over again.
  10. Came out Sept. 6th. The less you know about it the better, but if you like Preston Sturges, you probably know all about the plot!
  11. bow down!!!!!! I am the latest!!!!!!!!!! Hope you had a great one!!!
  12. Sorry. Obscure Beatles reference. ← I got it....
  13. Philly, El Guapo signed a contract with the Sox. Last I heard he was in Fort Myers, about thirty pounds heavier than he was when last seen. There were good reports at first but then I didn't hear anything else, and this was back maybe in June/July. Anyone remember when John Kruk was on Letterman, and he relayed a story about how he was smoking in public and some lady accosted him and objected that he's an athlete and shouldn't make a bad role model for kids, and he said, "Lady, I'm not an athlete. I'm a baseball player." ← Remember Rick Reuschel? Big Fat dude, won 17 games at the age of 40, and was a very good fielding pitcher...bet no one believed him when he said he was a major leaguer!
  14. Dan mentioned the storm stopping...that could be a real, real problem! Flooding is a problem from a quick moving storm...I heard a hurricane reconnaissance guy(pilot?) say that Rita was by far the worst storm he had seen in his 7 years, including Katrina!
  15. Yeah, but Wickman's arm is gonna fall off! I see him in the highlights every damn night it seems! And Dan, you sound like Al bashing the Rangers! The Yankees have starting problems as well,(And the Devil Rays can beat up either team at will it appears!) so don't know why you are so sure they will be the team....
  16. Yep, I saw something on TV recently saying the same thing. And it wasn't just traces of urine they found. I get real uptight when I go into a place and there is no soap and or towels. I've always been a freak about washing. Back in the days when I was running a lawn care route I used to keep sani-wipes and soap in the truck. Oh hell who am I kidding, I still do. ← Perhaps you and I should get married! I have always (well not when I was really young) washed my hands a lot. I even grab a towel to open the door at public restrooms! Hey, guys who just peed on their hands before having some nuts, will touch the door handle! Now, about women...I would say overall women are cleaner...but...I dated one nice gal...didn't smell or nothin', but I noticed one day she didn't to wash her hands...ever! Before fixing food, after unloading groceries....needless to say, we didn't date for long!
  17. Yeah, more trouble ahead, it appears. The last few weekends, Atlanta has run out of either the 89 Octane, 93, or both at many stations....
  18. That outragous.... conrad, can you hook me up with the video? ← If I find a link, you'll be the first to know!
  19. Tyra Banks Proves Breasts Are Real on TV Sep 21 2:09 PM US/Eastern NEW YORK Talk about keeping it real: Tyra Banks underwent a televised sonogram on her new talk show to prove that her breasts aren't fake. "I'm tired of this rumor. It's something that's followed me forever," the supermodel said Tuesday on "The Tyra Banks Show." After Banks asked the men in the audience to leave, Dr. Garth Fisher from ABC's "Extreme Makeover" performed a touch test and then the sonogram. He concluded: "Tyra Banks has natural breasts; there are no implants." "By no means am I saying a breast implant is a bad thing, but it's not a choice that I made," the 31-year-old model said. "But it's something that a lot of the public ... think that I have, and that's so frustrating for me." Banks, who models for Victoria's Secret, also displayed how her push- up bra exaggerated her body. However, Banks said she's not totally real. "I got fake hair, y'all. I got fake eyelashes." The hour-long show was, as Banks declared, "all about breasts!" It also featured lessons on proper fitting and an appearance from a slimmed-down Anna Nicole Smith. Aside from her syndicated daytime talk show (check local listings), Banks also hosts "America's Next Model." The fourth season of the UPN reality series was to premiere Wednesday (8 p.m. ET). http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/09/21/D8COQ3N07.html
  20. As Free For All mentioned, now a Category 5 with 165 MPH winds! Times 100! I guess we are all getting more info than we ever did before about storms. There is some section of the gulf(can't find the name, anyone else hear of it?) that both this storm and Katrina went thru that has the hottest water of all the Gulf...then this storm will go over some cooler water, and the water is more shallow near the coast as well...but...Katrina went from 175 MPH to 145, did that really make much difference in damage level??? I hear they are having trouble getting people to leave.....Galveston! Good God people! They have buses that anyone can use to leave, and you can bring your animals if they are in a cage...and people want to stay in that city, of all cities!!!
  21. Wow! Did not know that! Must be why the ad has been on every channel of late.... But, I do want to know what the song is, honest!
  22. All you can do is your best....Might fill up some milk jugs with water if the stores are out of water...less likely you will have water problems than Electricity problems, but you never know if there are major power outages, the water might not pump.... Best to get prescriptions filled early, etc... Now the storm at 8 am the storm is a Cat 4 with 135 MPH winds....
  23. Because it is interesting to see if others have grabbed a cd you only saw once .Most of those cds were bought before the internet was the main place to find cds. (Except the Ellington cd I think) Also, to see what others have purchased that might not warrant a thread alone....they might mention a cd no one knew was out there.Plus, we are all a desperate for new ideas of cds to purchase.
  24. Does that stuff really work? Uhm, I mean....what the heck is that song that is whistled throughout the ad, anyway? I know it is some 50's song, but don't know the title, and that drives me nuts!!! I think I heard it in some other commercial as well....
  25. It took forever to go from a tropical storm to a minimal Hurricane Tuesday Morning...now it has 115 MPH winds and 4 days to cross the warm gulf waters! Don't think that if you are inland, say Austin...that you can't suffer some major problems. Remember when Hurricane Hugo came ashore around Charlston? Remember what happened to Charlotte, well inland???? While the eye passed over Charleston, the storm's most intense region, known as the dangerous semi-circle, came ashore still further north between the small towns of Awendaw and McClellanville in the Francis Marion National Forest, breaking off most mature trees. In McClellanville, a small fishing village, residents took refuge in Lincoln High School, and were surprised by the sudden tidal surge which flooded the school. With water pouring into the rooms, the refugees helped one another in pitch darkness to climb into the space in the hanging ceiling above the rooms. All survived. The storm moved rapidly, with the center passing over Moncks Corner and close to Sumter, destroying homes, timber, and the area cotton crop. By the time it reached Charlotte, it was still strong enough to topple many trees across roads and houses and leave many without power for as long as two weeks. The last death caused by the storm was in East Aurora, New York near Buffalo when the winds toppled a tree onto a motorist. After the storm, then Governor of South Carolina, Carroll Campbell, said that the storm destroyed enough timber to frame a home for every family in the state of West Virginia. He also noted that there were about 3,000 tornadoes embedded within the hurricane, which accounts for extensive damage in some areas not within the path of the eyewall. I remember after the storm, a radio station in Jacksonville was the only contact Charlotte had to the outside world...so stock up! Lets all hope and pray this storm implodes before landfall!
