  1. No drop out on my old version (CDP 7 84189 2). There is a suddle change in the attack of McCoy's comping at the point you mention, but no drop out. ???
  2. I bought this disc pretty much on the reviews (and faith) when it first came out and had a similiar initial reaction. I've really warmed to this one upon repeated listenings. Especially disc #2, which to these ears flows like one big suite with applause thrown in every 12-15 minutes for good measure. Far from boring! Now if I could only warm up to Ask The Ages. That's my current project.
  3. Yeah, putting certain players in the context of their times is something I constantly try to do. It's certainly an interesting way to view players relative merits and contributions. As per usual, I'm not qualified on this particular subject matter, so bring on the geezers! B)

Thanks, I always forget that Barnes & Noble has audio samples.
  5. Anybody have this album? Looks kinda good. Group 15
  6. Nice Pictures!
  7. I would concur, based on the shape of the cutaway, the tailpiece, and the one "speed" knob in view. It's pre 1957 vintage for sure (tailpiece became more ornate on the 57 models among other things). My guess would be 49-53 era. I wish I could see the pickup(s) that would really help. Additionally, you can see part of the f-hole below the pickguard. It's hollow. The only thing I don't know, is if dots or trapezoid fret board markers were used on 49-53 vintage 175's. Seems like a question for Jim R. Any idea when that picture was taken? Whatever it is, it looks awfully small in Tal's hands.
  8. You got me. I'm a sucker for electronics! B)
  9. This album is getting a fair amount of airplay in these parts. I like everything I've heard, which is 3 cuts. Interesting takes on some old war horses. Not sure if I would buy this album, but certainly wouldn't mind hearing the album in it's entirety.
  10. A three DVD set for $185, $62 per disc? That's pretty steep, educational material or not. Hey, I'm a capitalist at heart so whatever the market will bear. Apparently, John's castle in the english countryside is in dire need of tuck pointing. Also read recently that George Russell is still paying off college loans. So upon further reflection maybe the $125 is understandable.
  11. Anybody remember the album a cappella? I thought that was pretty interesting Todd album. Really liked the song Mighty Love.
  12. I only have vinyl. I'll bite on this one.
  13. Anybody actually listen to this yet or are "we" just inspecting the numbering? Seriously, how's the sound quality? How informative is the booklet? Inquiring minds...
  14. That's a joke! And I Thought This Was Bad!

  22. Anybody buy this yet? It's not a deal breaker for me, but I'm curious about the sound quality.
  23. Curtis Mayfield- People Get Ready
  24. $8.39 at cd Universe as preorders. $7.99 at alldirect.com if your willing to wait awhile. Seems reasonable to me.
