  1. Many of my favs have been posted so I was about to post the DiNovi. Yes, I recommend it. It's a good one.
  2. "Salted Gingko Nuts" rec Nov. 1978.. The west coast TA-LT Band was their best band IMO. The later NY Band never quite had the same impact, again IMHO.
  3. rec. Feb. 1979 in Japan.
  4. Another solo piano recording. Very good IMO.
  5. Yes! Along with "Farewell to Mingus" and "Road Time", though I have all 3 on LP.
  6. A magnificent, full-out 5 star set. For me it ranks up there with the Thad-Mel Mosaic set.
  7. First Mosaic set I ever bought. (Please don't ask how many I've bought since!). These LP's still sound terrific.
  8. Some of my favorite Romano is on Sam Noto's "Act One" on Xanadu. Love that whole album. But I've never heard Joe's own recording. I'll have to check it out.
  9. Duke's "Don't You Know I Care (Or Don't You Care to Know)" arranged by Don Menza; with the soulful Joe Romano on a wonderful tenor solo. Joe was the real deal.
  10. This is a pretty obscure Bellson recording, but a really fine one. Bobby Shew is featured throughout in magnificent form, and Joe Romano is excellent on Don Menza's arrangement of "Don't You Know I Care (or Don't You Care to Know)."
  11. "Cedar's Blues" from Disc 1.. Phil certainly doesn't sound like a man who is struggling with COPD. His solo is very powerful.
  12. Very nice. Thanks
  13. That was Joanne Brackeen with Getz at Keystone Korner, wasn't it? The Resonance CD, right? Jessica Williams is a fantastic piano player. As a jazz fan that's all I care about really. I have a number of her CD's in my collection, though it's only a fairly small slice of her discography. She has recorded a massive number of CD's.
  14. Fine swinging player whose recordings I enjoy. I own a couple on the Organic label with Grant Stewart and Tardo Hammer as sidemen, plus I've heard several on Spotify. The CD referenced above by Cyril with Ferdinand Povel is an excellent recording.
  15. I love this new Thad/Mel "All My Yesterdays" set. I don't think I've ever heard Hank Jones play better than he does throughout this set. Every one of his solos is just a gem that fits the music and complements the chart perfectly.
