  1. Great album. Dicky Wells is outstanding.
  2. Thanks Tom and All: It was fine; would have been great had the Blue Jays won!
  3. Thanks Don. I would love to join you more often. I am still a "working man" for four more years and find it tough to get away on Fridays. However, if I can find an excuse to come into Toronto on any given Friday, I'll certainly come along and along hang out with the group.
  4. Kansas City Six and Five
  5. Great choice. No one should let that oxygen tube in Phil's nose put you off. He plays very well here. And Greg sounds inspired, too, matching Phil solo for solo. The Tim Ray trio does a great job backing these guys and has a couple of nice trio features. Phil's playing never declined; in fact, I would say he even turned it up a notch or two on his last few dates, knowing perhaps the end was near. Perhaps the oxygen helped, too. Very good recording quality.
  6. Herb Ellis and Ross Tompkins - fine recording!
  7. My Spotlite pressing is not very good, unfortunately. Mid 70's petroleum shortage and all that. Still some companies had good pressings. Not all though. Some really cheaped out. I don't know how producers could live with putting such crap on the market. And I discovered that there was no point in taking them back to the store. The next one you got would be no better. Of course you could get your money back, but then you wouldn't have the music at all. The 70's were a real crap shoot for pressing quality. Now (a good pressing, actually):
