  1. Aha! So when we see who wrote the liner notes, we'll know who the procrastinator is!
  2. "Passion Flower" from Not only is Hodges exquisite but the band plays the arrangement superbly and the whole performance is enhanced by the fine recording quality.
  3. "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" -- 11 plus minutes of joyous, uplifting, hard swing. From: This music is 20 years old. Hard to believe that Nick, John and Dick have left us. Of all the wonderful Nick Brignola CD's on Reservoir this one may be my favorite.

He's on the new George Cables CD Icons and Influences (High Note) which is very good. On George's previous High Note date, too.
  6. Now there is a line-up! Nothing but pure jazz, rare enough at a "jazz" festival these days. And Barnes right in the middle of it, naturally.
  7. Good solos, esp. by tenor Gregory Herbert, but the soaring Herd is weighed down by mediocre, funk-oriented charts. Trying to be hip, typical for the early 70's.
  8. Likewise. And cold again.
  9. Agreed. It's a great record, probably his best IMO.
  10. When I order from importcds through amazon marketplace the order always comes through yet another firm, CD Listening Bar Inc. Recently I ordered the new George Cables CD. Here's part of the shipping notice I received on-line. Today CD Listening Bar Inc., trading on Amazon as importcds__, shipped item(s) in your order, placed on February 01, 2014.
  11. That's exactly my experience. They're one of the best on amazon marketplace IMHO. I'm always pleased when I see they have the best price. Never any problems with ordering or delivery.
  12. Yep, that seems a strange signing. I can't imagine Glenn and Burris on the same team for a whole season. One will surely be traded. How can Ottawa fit 2 veteran starting QB's under the cap?
  13. Roy Eldridge - Dale's Wail
  14. It's a good album. I came across this one recently, too: I presume this is all on the Mosaic set? Yes, the Great Big Band session is on the Kenton Presents Mosaic set. The Lost Charts CD is not a big band but a septet.
  15. Yes, he's a wonderful trumpet player, straight-ahead and boppish, but adventurous, too, well worth hearing. Here's 3 recommendations, in order of preference (though there's really no difference between the first two - both are excellent). Oh, and he has a wonderful big band CD as well.
