Wow, that's a lot of games. Should make some more CFL fans south of the border. You know, it's obvious, I guess, but watching last night's game reminds me that the larger field really opens the game up and makes for very exciting football.
I can finally watch the games on cable again. This was a good one. Only in the CFL! Last year I thought the Ti-Cats were a better team than their record showed. I think they have a decent and competitve team again but they have to tighten up their defense.
Listened to this one a couple of times this week in my car. It's a good one. You don't need to check the notes to tell that it was recorded at Van Gelder's.
Also liked the duo record with Bill Charlap.
Agree with this totally. I forgot about Deerhead because I was thinking of the ones with Jack. Deerhead Inn may well be the best, IMO. Motian is quite different than Jack, of course, but he swings like crazy on this one. Great, great CD.
Totally agree. Perhaps not the one I would choose at this point if I could only take one, but it's very good and very enjoyable. ("Whisper Not" would be my choice, I think).
Excellent album! Knew it well back in the sixties. In recent years only an audio tape of it has been available to me.
It's a great album. On the Dizzy Moasic set. And the title is no BS!
J.J. showing that if Slide Hampton can play left-handed trombone, then so can he!
Oh boy, is Phil really 90? Really enjoy his recordings, especially The Atlantic Suite and especially the expanded 2 CD re-issue. Caught the band live several times.
There's no doubt about it - he's a terrific original composer for larger ensembles (10-16 persons strong). Hence his band's names - Nimmons 'N Nine. Nimmmons 'N Nine Plus Six.
Happy 90th to Phil.
Again. What a fine set this is. Such enjoyable listening. Don't know how or why I slept on this set for 10 years. But I'm glad I finally woke up before it's too late.
