I have a number of Alan Barnes CD's on Woodville:
I would recommend almost any of them, but these are among my favorites. I often think that baritone is his strongest "axe".
I am kind of embarrassed that as a Canadian big band jazz buff, I knew nothing of this record until I saw it posted here. I know many of the musicians, of course, but I've never heard this recording. It completely escaped my attention.
Disc 1. I'd forgotten how well Miles plays on these early tracks. Really steals the show on these tracks IMHO. Walter Bishop Jr. sounds really good, too.

A very powerful set, though I've always thought the piano (the instrument that is), is not up to snuff. Al Foster is outstanding.
