  1. For sure. Fabulous. Getz's solo on "Mosquito Knees" is absolutely gripping.
  2. The WDR was asleep, but the the SWR was awake and produced this wonderful CD. Bob's Limited Edition produced many wonderful recordings, but this one IMHO, is the summit.
  3. - with Jake Hanna it's always in my book. Now: This is one of the most enjoyable recordings I have heard this year. Nothing earth-shattering or ground breaking, but just really good listening. Having a hard time putting it away on the shelves.
  4. According to the Sparke/Venudor discography and my own CD version of Cuban Fire, there was one track recorded which was not on the original album, but was included on the CD version. That track is titled Tres Corazones (Three Hearts). According to Richards, it was not originally part of the Cuban Fire Suite, but it fits very nicely. Again, according to Sparke/Venudor, Alma Pecadora was part of the Cuban Fire Suite but was unrecorded "and presumably rejected as not being up to the same standard as the other charts." Since Alma Pecadora was not recorded by the Kenton Band, it is impossible to tell whether it is the same tune as La Pecadora.
  5. Now: Say it out loud to yourself a few times either by yourself or to your wife before delivering it in public. It helps with the emotions. You sort of deal with them ahead of time in the more private renderings. At least I find that for myself. I have to speak at my mother's funeral service in a couple of weeks; in fact I am the main speaker, and I'm certainly going to follow my own advice here. All the best. You'll do well.
