  1. I found a box I had stashed away in the closet full of CDs by assorted pianists. Earlier I was listening to this newly rediscovered disc And now I'm listening to
  2. Recorded in 1990 with Steve Nelson, Peter Washington, Mr. Billy Higgins plus Donald Harrison on 3 tracks
  3. Thank you Ted O'Reilly
  4. I know it's early, but this disc consists of all originals (well, Dan Hicks' "Santa, The Man" is based on "Song For My Father") and not covers of traditional holiday tunes, so it made for a pleasant listen. All live performances by the band recorded in 2007 & 2008. Good fun and swinging music. Disc 2 of 2.
  5. A good long life, a very successful career and the admiration & respect of millions of fans and fellow singers/musicians -- Mr. Hendricks enjoyed all of that. Well done, sir. May you now rest in peace (or harmony, as the case may be).
  6. Earlier: Currently"
  7. I confess -- the first time I listened to this CD years ago, I was disappointed to discover that the bonus track, "My Three Sons", was not a smokin' jazz organ trio version of the theme song from the TV series of the same name.
  8. And many more!!
  9. I saw the spine of this disc in my Art Hodes section yesterday and thought, "Hmmmm, I haven't played that one in a while". I pulled it out and discovered why that was -- half the disc consists of his previously released Christmas album. It's a little early in the season for it, but I decided to give it a listen. Mr. Hodes' quirky, blues-rooted playing might make this music palatable even to those jazz fans who hate Christmas music. The other half of the CD contains 8 previously unreleased performances of original tunes (mostly blues) by Mr. Hodes. Good stuff all around.
  10. If I recall correctly, OP played organ on one track on that album -- a real rarity for him!
  11. The 1970 band recorded "live" in Budapest. Features Sweets Edison, Lockjaw Davis, Cecil Payne, Grover Mitchell, Eric Dixon and a couple of songs with vocals by Mary Stallings.
  12. His "standards" album from 2008. Very nice.
  13. Almost an anniversary album -- recorded Nov. 17, 1973.in a concert at Lincoln Center.
