  1. LP 2 - originally The Other Side of Benny Golson and Andy LaVerne Trio - Another World (SteepleChase, 1978)
  2. Just finished this LP and enjoyed it so much that I'm giving it a second spin: Barney Kessel - Summertime in Montreux (Black Lion, 1973)
  3. LOL Who knew?!? Not me. You!
  4. Yeah, he's going to continue as their Designated Hitter.

  6. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
  7. This again: So beautiful.
  8. The fact one ballplayer has done all that in one season (before the end of August, even) is INSANE. An incomparable achievement. SUCH a bummer that he's injured.
  9. Interesting to hear Walton & Higgins with RC, instead of Sam Jones or David Williams.
  10. Now playing: Thanks, jazzcorner!
  11. Now spinning: Dakota Staton - Confessin' (Groove Merchant, 2 LPs, 1974) LP 2 - originally released as Madame Foo-Foo -- with "Groove" Holmes, Cornell Dupree, "Pretty" Purdie, and others As SOULFUL as all get-out.
  12. More 20th c. stuff from France: My MHS release has a typically nondescript cover, so I'm posting the Erato version.
  13. Interesting mix of players on that one. Festival Big Band (Jerry van Rooyen) - Explosive! (Philips, 1971)
  14. Thanks for the heads-up on this, Mike. I've never heard it, and I'm going to check it out.
  15. Brahms: Symphony No. 2, as heard in this set:
  16. I have an extra copy of Tito Puente's Mambo Diablo (Concord, 1985). Totally free to anyone in the U.S. Peeps overseas will need to pay shipping. It's an excellent record too!
  17. A 2021 CD from the artist (formerly?) known as Bayeté, who worked with Bobby Hutcherson, Stanley Clarke, Julian Priester, and others back in the day. He also made a couple records for Prestige in the early-70s.
  18. I bought the Barnaby reissue (used) of that LP at Mole Jazz in London about 30 years ago. NP: I really dig this music, but my Schema-Rearward CD reissue sounds very hard and congested. Everything feels overdriven, recording-wise. I realize that this is blaring, LOUD music -- but the recording seems to accentuate that aspect of it. It's distracting (to me, at least). Of course, it might just be my ears. Or I could be bumping up against limitations in my (old-but-trusty) stereo system. So I'm curious: Does anyone have this album on LP? Or, for that matter, the Schema-Rearward CD? If so, does it sound that way to you too?
  19. Still going bananas for Baden: Volume 1: L'Âme de Baden Powell (Festival FR, 1973) and Volume 2: L'Art de Baden Powell (Festival FR, 1973) On both of these albums, Powell is supported by: - Guy Pedersen (b) - Joaquim Paes Henriques (d) - Luis Aguido (perc) - Janine De Waleyne (vo, selected cuts only) Powell performing with Guy Pedersen
  20. I just now stumbled across a website and forum dedicated to A&M Records: https://www.amcorner.com/ It reminded me of this thread, so I thought I'd share it here.
