Absolutely. The music on this set is sublime!
To me, Ellington is the greatest of them all.
Wow. That sounds great, Buddha. I'm going to have to check that out. You can hardly go wrong with a Buster Williams / Freddie Waits rhythm section!
I remember hearing it a couple times many years ago. It never really knocked me out. Then again, it's been a long while.
Let us know what you think after you've had an opportunity to give it a listen or two.
NP:
Michel Petrucciani / Ron McClure - Cold Blues (Owl LP)
I really enjoy the piano/bass format. No surprise that this one is excellent, given the participants. . . . And the imported French vinyl sounds very nice.
Earlier:
Duke Pearson Nonet - Honeybuns (Atlantic/Collectables)
Love the "little big band" sound on this record. Pearson was a fine composer -- and an even better arranger, imho.
So true!!! ESPECIALLY if it was recorded in the 1970s!!!
NP:
I was sorry to hear that Pirouet had suspended operations recently. Hopefully, it's only temporary.
Giving to this new-to-me LP a second spin:
Bob Mover - S/T (Vanguard)
Very nice.
Earlier:
Scott Colley with Chris Potter & Bill Stewart - This Place (SteepleChase)
Wonderful.
