  1. What do you guys think about these remasterings? There's always so much talk about RVG remasterings. I tend to upgrade my Blue Notes when RVGs come out. I've also started to upgrade to K-2 issues as well for Fantasy/OJC/Prestige issues. I think the K-2 remasterings are definite improvements. I do complain, however, about the retail price. RVGs are semi-reasonable; K-2 reissues go for $15-16 apiece. Couldn't they be cheaper since there's no new artwork or whatever?
  2. I prefer the JRVG sound to the TOCJ sound, but I miss the jewel cases sometimes.
  3. Boardmembers offer them from time to time. Grey sells them, as does Jacknife and Undergroundagent. Gotta wait until one of them appears with something...
  4. When you find out, let me know...
  5. Sending pms to Skid and Eric. Thanks, Paul
  6. Asking $10 for each which includes shipping... If no one is interested, I'll sell em at a local jazz shop.
  7. Added another. Tolliver still available...
  8. so far there's no sign of anybody jumping on anything... Marcus is getting "Squirrel" if he can... a) get my name down right. (I'm not "Dan.") and... b) get my country down right. (I don't live in Canada, and have nothing to do with the Canadian postal system... )
  9. Not so sure about the unified title. Kram and Kaspy seem to have trouble agreeing to anything. Krammy apparently insists on draw odds and feels Kaspy should go through a long qualifier like everyone else. In the meantime, what "long qualifier" did Kramnik have to endure when he became challenger? If my memory is correct, Kasparov basically selected him as a challenger as the old champions in the 20s used to do.
  10. Durn! We were trying to keep his type out... (Welcome back, Chris)
  11. Just trying to loosen up some change. Been buying lots of stuff lately. It's a good chance. "You've Changed" is played beautifully.
  12. Charles Tolliver "Impact" (Strata East label) $10 incl/shipping Dexter Gordon, "The Squirrel" (Japanese TOCJ edition w/obi) $15 incl/shipping (GONE) Cedar Walton, "Off Minor" (oop Red label Italian import) $10 incl/shipping. All in great condition Checks or cash accepted.
  13. Looked over the final game quickly. Amazing game. Caro-Kann is always difficult to play against. I couldn't believe Kramnik offering first the b-pawn then the a-pawn. I haven't analyzed it because I'm working on something else right now, but I can't see offhand why Leko didn't take the pawn, then retreat his bishop back to c6 after Kramnik moved his rook to the seventh. Got to see the analysis. All this just for an active rook? Kramnik is somewhat lazy but his understanding of chess is probably greater than anyone elses. Amazing comeback against such a renowned technician as Peter Leko. Whaddya think, Swinging Swede?
  14. Did you catch that Pittsburgh/Dallas Sunday night?? Dallas absolutely blew it, in "Pisarcik-ian proportions". All they had to do was run a couple of plays, kick a field goal and make a defensive stand against a hobbled Steelers offense. Instead, Testeverde bumps into his running back, fumbles, and the Steelers seal the W. Steelers should've lost that one. The Jets are an enigma. Like NE, they've played some pretty weak teams (that's what we get with the Bills and Dolphins in our division). Who knows if their 5-0 is real? At least we have two tough W's. Not the Jets. Belichick seems to have Pennington's number though. Later, Kevin Yeah, I know, but winning breeds a certain confidence. Steelers always had a good team; they just needed some confidence. Our 5-0 looks much better than the Jets 5-0. Pats beat Indy and Seattle. Jets just beat San Diego. Can't compare. Jets are always tough because divisional opponents know each other well. But that works both ways. We know them well too!
  15. I just don't see it that way, Kevin. I think the defence won the game with big plays (like they usually do.) If Bethel hadn't caught that bomb on 3rd and 7, I'm sure the defense would have held on. Seattle is explosive and you have to score points to beat them. We know that. I agree about Alexander. Seattle should have used him more often, but they were down and pretty much out of the game in the first half, so they had to throw the ball in the air. Brady allowed Seattle to get close by fumbling the ball. Believe me, I'm not one to devalue Brady's efforts, but with the Patriots, the defense is a huge factor in games... Anyway, as you say, a win is a win. Keep on posting. Nice to see another Pats fan discuss games. I think they'll beat the Jets, and I'm not sure about Pittsburgh. Steelers are looking tough and should be favored.
  16. Steelers look terrific with Big Ben. All teams suffer injuries. Surely it evens out. Pats receiver corps has been terribly depleted. Is Chad Scott so important? Wasn't he almost run out of town along with Dwayne Washington after last year's poor performance? Always hurts to lose a big defensive tackle.
  17. Stay tuned for next week's poll on Jets at Pats... B-)
  18. Dumb statement of the week... Bethel came up big on that third down catch...
  19. I know what you mean, but that was actually Roosevelt Colvin who got the penalty, not Ty Warren. B-) I thought there were some questionable calls, as there always is. Pats always have to win nailbiters. The game was wrapped up after the first half, but they allowed the Seahawks back in the game.
  20. Sorry Noj. All good things must come to an end. The Pats will suck in a few years...
  21. Okay, Pats win. Seattle tried to make a game out of it, but the game was basically lost in the first half. Now for the big showdown against the Jets next weekend. Two 5-0 teams...
