  1. Take it from me, Greg, this is not an easy thing for Moose to do...
  2. Well, a wee bit... Nah, the times just don't work out for me. I'll catch you guys next time. Going through a lot of turmoil at work right now.
  3. I was thinking about coming, Jim, but the website said no alcohol is served... Actually, I can't be there owing to other commitments. Give em a good show!
  4. I always wanted to be the first to start one of these. Happy Birthday to Greg, whom I have met in person; and who is a good guy. All the best...
  5. I still haven't learned any "stragedy."
  6. I never warmed up to Dizzy Reece. Had the Mosaic Select and sold it off. I bought back "Comin' On," so that would be the one session that stays in my collection.
  7. You're kidding, right? I've played a few games in my time... Swingin Swede is a chessplayer as well. Ghostie says he was a 1500-1700 player at one time...can't remember the exact rating; but he said so in a pm long ago... I'm at 2000+ ("expert" level.) Currently, laying off the tournament scene, but will be getting back into it in another few months, hopefully. Some other boardmember plays chess...forgot who. Anyway... Five years old is a bit young, but who cares? I teach a 10-year old who travels to my house once a month for paid lessons. (He lives about two hours away.) He's very talented and will likely be better than me when he's an adult. Scholastic chess is on fire in the US. I get written invites to teach chess for "a living." (If you call "a living" $25,000/yr.) Right now, the tournament scene in America is dead for adults. The game has moved away from the old demographic of aged males to school kids and women. All the national federation's resources have moved toward promoting chess in the schools and for promoting the game to women. Right now, the US woman's Olympic team is in second place in Spain with only a couple rounds to go. The team is comprised of a team of women who were all born outside the country. We have kind of "bought" ourselves a killer women's team. I know the third board, Anna Zatonskih personally. She is a Ukrainian woman's grandmaster who lives nearby in Bowling Green, Ohio. She came over and obtained a Green Card on the basis of "having an exceptional talent." The point I'm trying to make is that there couldn't be a better zeitgeist for a female scholstic player like your daughter to get involved in the game. Old males like myself are on the way out... Good luck!
  8. Allow me also to welcome you to our board, Chaney. Hope you aren't related to the other Chaney we had. He was a bit of a boob.
  9. So what's the creationist view of this? Fairies? Gnomes? Homomunculus? (sp?) I think it's homunculus. No dictionary on hand...
  10. I'd send you some women, but you've got enough of them... B-) Happy Birthday!
  11. I like you, Chuck. I do too, but that doesn't mean he has any friends...
  12. What has happened to Seattle? Love the Jags upset over Colts. I think the Colts are slightly overrated. Miami still has a tough D, while St Louis looks soft. That was still a surprise, though. Lions roared today. I saw the game on local TV. Jets are one of the best teams in the NFL. Their defensive line was putting good pressure on Brady all day. Pats are just a bit better. That rematch in NY won't be fun. Neither will next week's game in Pittsburgh. I'm leaning towards a Steeler upset next weekend, but I'll have to see the news over the week first. Ravens are starting to look tough again. Still have no offense. Browns should have won today. Damn!
  13. Darn good prices. Shucks, I've got all the jazz stuff already.... Somebody, jump on these...
  14. Jets putting up a good fight first half in NE. They look just like.... us... We'll win today, I think, but Jets will take the rematch in NY. Browns played well. Almost beat Philly. Damn!
  15. Already aware of it as I've had the original issue for years. Will find out in a week whether the K-2 remaster improves it much.
  16. I just ordered the K-2 of Wes Montgomery, "Full House." Man, the older version sounds excellent. Why remaster that one? Surely, there were other titles ahead in the triage?
  17. Will Bev and Sangry take their gripe to another board, please...
  18. Damn! Forgot about the Bill Evans remasterings. I've got the Miles Davis series all taken care of and Wes Montgomery (along with an odd Cannonball and Kenny Dorham.) Now I've got to upgrade my Bill Evans. And at $15-16, whew...
