Cannibalism isn't a crime in Germany!

This is a fine thread which should be restored to the day's topical points. -

Thank you rockefeller center and Jazzmoose. Yes. All the major issues. No subject undiscussed. Love this board!!! This is making me sentimental about some of my favorite threads. Think I'll revisit that cannibalism link... -
The Super Bore. errrrr Bowl

Some interesting stats: --The Pats last lost a game on September 28th, which was two days before the baseball playoffs started. Now pitchers and catchers are reporting back. --Of those 14 wins, eight of them were against teams with 10 wins or better! --Looking back, the best teams (besides the Pats) were Indianapolis, Tennessee, and Philadelphia, and New England was 5-0 against them. Throw in wins against Denver, Miami (2 wins) and Dallas. --At the same time, Carolina only played 4 teams with winning records, and still managed to lose 5 games. --The Panthers lost three consecutive games just two months ago. In addition, they pulled out lucky wins against Jacksonville when Delhomme had to complete a 4th and 10; the blocked extra point to beat the Bucs; and Haslett's meltdown in New Orleans. Actually, on paper it should be a rout... Knowing the Pats, though, it won't. (Source: The Sports Guy) -

You guys are so sharp. I was also musing about how Lee Morgan was perfectly suited for organ sessions, and I had forgotten about "Love Bug" and "Think" and "Turning Point," though I like all three. Lee was made for grooves. He should have played with Patton. What a combo! -

I don't know why, conn, but the non-sequitur aspect of those two sentences struck me as funny. And it occured to me while writing it as well. If there's a connection, it's that I'm pleased we got a little more Morgan on record before his life ended so abruptly. -

Even that thread on cannibalism was less gross than this stuff! -

Yes, Billy Cobham--that's it. I like his rhythms. I believe Morgan was gunned down two days after this recording. I just love this cd! -
I've been digging this cd a lot. It strikes me as appropriately titled. Seems the musicians got good and sauced before they entered the recording studio. Great music, great cd. I think this is Charles Earland's greatest recording. It helps that he's got first class musicians like Lee Morgan and Billy Harper. The drummer is excellent as well (forgot his name.)

As a New England fan and someone who has watched their games all year, I can assure you all that this will be a competitive game. No blowout. We've won 14 straight games but most of them were close. (Of course, now that I've said this, it will be a blowout. ) -

Everything is even at this stage. Amazing. Yet the oddsmakers place NE as a 7 point favorite. Let's see how the ESPN pundits vote. -

Everyone knows who I picked. It won't be a super bore to me. Carolina is a dangerous underdog. I don't think this is such a gimme game as many people seem to think. Gotta love Warren Sapp for creating a press statement that will be posted in the New England lockerroom. He said that the Carolina defensive line will overwhelm the Patriots' offensive line and that it's a huge mismatch. Sapp must have something against Carolina. Players from both teams have been careful to avoid inflammatory comments. Thanks for the boost, Sapp. Hope you find a team that would be willing to pay you a bloated salary next year. -

Actually, New England does not have a GM. Belichick serves that function along with his close associate Scott Pirolli, who is head of player personnel. The two have been together a long time and collaborate on player decisions. I even remember reading somewhere that the two are related through marriage. Belichick says that they both search for players then "bounce" the ideas off each other. They both have a good sense for the type of players that would do well under the Belichick system. When BB first came to New England four seasons ago, it was easier to find players for his system as he brought over some people from the Jets and from the rest of the league that he had coached. This has changed over the years and for the last couple of years they've had to start with "unknowns" like everyfone else. They had a superb draft in 2003 and their free agent crop has really worked out. Looks like the two of them have made the transition nicely. Scott Pioli will become a GM for another team at some point. He's just too good at what he does. It's inevitable. I think Bill Parcells is another great coach with tremendous recognition of good players. He will make Dallas a very hard team to beat. He's one of the best, in my opinion, and BB learned from him. -
I think it would be better to have new members.

You just saying this Chuck, or do you really like the Charlie Brown tracks? Of course, I like them. BTW, excellent posts, kh1958 and Minew. I guess I forgot about how great Tom Landry was. I think everyone pretty much recognizes Bill Walsh as an offensive genius. Minew: One aspect of Bill Parecells' greatness is recognition of good football players. It came out this season that he was trying to get RB Rudi Johnson of the Bengals, who has since turned out to be a terrific prospect and has made Corey Dillon expendable. Parcells was able to see all this before it came to pass. Amazing sense of player recognition... -
Hey GROPE, Don't let DEEP bother you. He's a has-been and doesn't write as good political comments as you do.

March RVGs: Upgrade or not?
connoisseur series500 replied to connoisseur series500's topic in New Releases
Thanks everyone for the info on the online ordering. I think I ordered mine from deepdiscount last time and got the free shipping. Sure makes a difference. Man, I hate upgrading...but I do stand fast and upgrade only the more egregious recordings.
