  1. Latest greaazze I been spinning: Lonnie Smith, "Think." Whooooo Baby! Sizzle, sizzle, snap, crackle, and pop!
  2. Both Kirks are good. Typical wild Roland Kirk live sessions. Does a lot of jawing throughout. Another idea: I've got some other things too if you've got something to add in on your side we can have a blockbuster trade! best just email or pm me on that. Thanks, Paul
  3. Um...Guess who! It just came in the mail today! Great Disc! Aw Shucks, Steve, I'm happy for ya! (GRRRRRR )
  4. Okay, who jumped on the "Lou Donaldson + three Sounds?" I had been eyeballing that one for a week but just couldn't pull the trigger. Now I'll have to go back to being outbid on ebay. Man this is nihilistic!
  5. Final preseason games are on tap over the next few days. New England just completed their 4-0 preseason, but didn't look good in the final game. I suspect they overlooked Chicago and had their eyes on the season opener with Buffalo. I'm feeling real good about their chances this year.
  6. Me Too! Can't wait! JK, Did you happen to check for any Dodo Greens? How can you waste your money on the fine virtuosity of Gene Harris, when the unknown, underappreciated Dodo Green waits to be bought??
  7. I wonder if I'm addicted to either sweet stuff or salty snacks. What I'm really addicted to is stuff which comes in convenient ready-to-eat packages. Guess what? Sweet and salty stuff comes in those kinds of packages. If they packaged mud in those kinds of packages, I'd be gobbling it down nevertheless.
  8. No small achievement! English sweets and sweet buscuits...mmmmmm!
  9. I personally would not buy the set missing a disk. I can buy sets missing booklets or cover artwork or whatever, but not missing a disk. Save the $$$ for something else. Don't care too much for those Woody Shaw titles, though "Two More Pieces of the Puzzle" isn't bad. Didn't care for "Bemsha Swing"for some odd reason, though I love Woody Shaw.
  10. For Three Sounds fans out there: Dusty Groove has just listed a couple of Three Sounds JRVGs for the usual $24.99 price. I just ordered "Out of this World." Been looking for that one for some time. Forgot the title of the other one, but I've got it in TOJC already. Not exactly cheap stuff, but these things are hard to get.
  11. Let me guess - it's "Beverly", isn't it? I just played it 2x and it's one of those albums that signify me not only as a music lover, but also as a completist/collector... The super track for me is "Up Over and Out." Killer song and as good as anything he's done. "Beverly" is also outstanding. I'm spinning this disk again. It is a superb session really.
  12. Yes, it is indeed zornication. I thought the extra syllable made it look better, but it is inaccurate. Perhaps I wll be ex-zornerated after I listen to "Boogaloo" about a dozen times in the next few days?
  13. I just thought of something: It would suck if Soul Stream and I decided to walk into a cd shop together. Our musical tastes seem so closely aligned that we'd end up on the floor wrestling over the same titles!! That's okay, man. I'd give you first choice since I'm all spent out here!
  14. Beautifully said, and accurate in the highest degree!
  15. "zorny" as in horny or as in corny? Just listen to this record during zornification and it might help.
  16. What this--a poll to find fat fucks? I came out normal but on the high side.
  17. I'm another one who prefers to sleep alone. My comfort conditions vary greatly than my wife's. I like the room cooler than she does, but more importantly, I like to stick some JAZZ on!! She doesn't like to sleep with music on. We probably sleep half of the week in the same bed and the other half in separate rooms. Then I crank the JAZZ!!!
  18. Here's a solid "YES!" vote. Not Mobley's best and I also don't care for two of the songs, but the rest KICKS! If my car stereo chewed this one up, I would go out and replace it.
  19. It is unlikely that 17.Nd5 was home preparation. She spent 6 of her remaining 15 minutes on that move, and she was behind on time already before that move. I think the reason that Anand avoided 17…Nxd5 might be that it would open up lines for White, and he didn’t want to do that since it would favour Polgar’s style (she is a feared attacking player). 17…Qc5 actually wasn’t a bad move; it was later that he made the decisive error when he played 22…Bxe4?. In any case it was a very entertaining match. 5-3 to Anand and no draws! If you are interested, GM Sergey Shipov has annotated the games in the match on worldchessrating.com, which is a pretty good site. (He gives some lines after 17…Nxd5, btw. It's complicated, but he thinks White has compensation for the pawn.) Shipov annotates the Anand-Polgar match Yes, SS, KC stands for Kasparov Chess. I was disappointed when it closed down on us as I had made a lot of friends chatting and playing. Felt as orphaned as most of us did when the BNBB closed down. I do think 17. Nd5 was possibly prepared ahead of time, but if it wasn't it wouldn't have been difficult for a player of Judit's caliber to find it. For one thing, it is very much a thematic move for white in that variation. White constantly thinks of that move after Rhe1 has been played. The attack shifts from the kingside to the center. I believe Jan Timman was the first to introduce the Nd5 theme. I am familiar with www.chessrating.com but haven't yet seen Shipov's analysis of the game. Will have to look at it. BTW, I don't get on the internet at work. I do it at home when I should be in the office instead!
  20. Don't know if I would go that far, but don't let that disc just sllliiiiiiiiiiidddde by you!
  21. I think the fellah is allright--well in Aussie language--Awwwrright!. Never been able to actually sit through an entire episode as I don't find it particularly geared towards my age bracket, but I don't see anything wrong if he stirs up a critter or two. I guess kids have to learn how dangerous these animals can be.
  22. you have got to be kidding??? do *not* wait for the RVG, it will only SLIIIIIIIDE out of the jewel case anyway more grease than the broom closet at the hog plant ... Eric Stop denying yoh-self, Big Al!! :rsmile:
  23. I can't show pictures, but my favorite might be Harold Vick, "Steppin' Out." That pretty much describes my musical tastes and personality as far as my friends are concerned.
