I hope that NE takes the opportunity to find a long term successor. Nobody stays on top for long, and I don't know how many more years Brady has left. This could be a blessing in disguise as this issue has to be dealt with sooner or later.

NFL is a team sport. No player is greater than the team (or shouldn't be.) The Pats can't be a very good team if the loss of one player blows their season. In fact, that's why the NFL is one of the only team sports that I still follow; and why I can't stand to watch the NBA with it's cult of superstar. I can guarantee you that the NE Patriots are more than just Tom Brady; and we will see it this season.

Congratulations Magnus! He plays Anand tomorrow. Lots of action ahead. Went over Anand's loss to Topa today. Vishy played rather weakly. Looks like both he and Kramnik are distracted and looking ahead. But what of Topa? Doesn't he have a match against Kamsky approaching. How come he isn't playing as listlessly as the other two?

I don't care about weekly winners. The real prize lies in the ultimate winner at the end of the playoffs. Problem with picking points is that it adds extra thinking time when we make our picks. But I WILL go along with whatever the majority (or the most vocal) want. I like to keep things SIMPLE and manageable over the long run. It's a long season and you will see people drop out or miss weekly picks if it demands too much of their time. I've been involved in this poll from beginning to end for the last three seasons now. It's the reality of it. How do we know what the latest Monday night game is? Is it indicated when we make our picks?

I like this method. Last year, Nojjy missed a week and we gave him the average results for that week. Sometimes people forget. If they do, they will be penalized; but at least they can still stay and play in the pool.

Not sure, Bruce, but it is important to know that these ladies posted here not only play chess, but are amongst the best in the world at doing so. They are really gifted in that way. Everyone plays chess, but not everyone plays it well.

Straight picks and no points. We see who wins at the end of the season. You can do MNF points if you like but aren't there now two games that night? My feeling is that the more time consuming this becomes, the less likely that people will stick to it throughout the entire season. We need to keep things as simple as possible.
