  1. I'm taking the opposite approach and saying that if people are offended by cell phone talk, they can simply let the chatter know about it. They shouldn't go so far as jam everyone's frequencies like that. Now I'm all for jamming the barking of my neighbor's dogs.
  2. Be sure to get your picks in if you haven't done so. Big game tomorrow.
  3. Woody was a beast on the trumpet. I love ROSEWOOD a lot, and really dig the Woody Shaw Mosaic. It's interesting, Marcello, but it seems that WIII shouldn't have to be concerned about keeping his father's music alive. It can do that all on its own. "Theme for Maxine" is a great tune, btw. I remember when I was first seriously checking into jazz how people would warn me about 70s stuff. Heck, 70s stuff most often falls into my favorite time period for jazz. Maybe it has to do with my age or something, who knows?
  4. This one is a desert island disc for me. I never tire of it. All the tunes are great.
  5. Would be curious to hear everyone's prediction for Sunday's game. Me: NE wins. (And with some margin-close to two tds.)
  6. On the other hand, with the notable exception of the Pats and Colts, it occurred to me recently that the NFC is quietly fielding some strong teams--and likely stronger teams than their AFC counterparts (aside from the above-mentioned two.) NY Giants, Dallas, Green Bay are arguably better than Pittsburgh, San Diego and Jacksonville. Well, I did say arguably. They appear to be equal to them anyway. The NFC East is the best division in football.
  7. I would like to say that I also apologize if my statements annoyed GS. I really didn't intend to bait him with my comments. I started off in joking mode and continued as such; yet it seems that he got annoyed at my comments. I am really not upset at him at all. But I do honestly request that the thread return to football. How about this weekend's matchup, huh? I won't be able to get any work done at all this Sunday--either before or after the game. That game will DOMINATE my Sunday. Better be worth it. And my team better win. I'll be bummed for an entire week if they don't. There's a lot of emotional committment on my part riding on this game.
  8. Finally a post that relates to this thread You have to remember that odds only represent what betting people think of the outcome of the game. In any case, they may be champs, they may be undefeated but they're facing a special team that has a better history overall and that has played better football than the champs so far this year. And with all the hoopla regarding the stolen signals scandal it seems that they are pissed off and they don't mind acting like it, unfortunately for the rest of the league their opponent are paying for it. This team seems to have embraced the concept of me against the world. i dont necessarily disagree with the odds, but it is an interesting situation. I predict the Pats will win 42-27.
  9. Week #8 results: Van B. 9-4 Noj 9-4 Conn 8-5 Totals year to date: Van B 74-42 Noj 71-45 Conn 71-45
  10. btw GoodSpeak/Tim. Aggie is a terrific guy. It might be worth the effort to get to know him.
  11. No, I don't necessarily think that at all. I do know you've annoyed a bunch of people on this board, but I have no history with you. You are certainly entitled to your opinions, and I might even agree with you on many of them. Your aggressive and hostile posting style (ie. "Tex-ass" and "Connoisseur Series 500 boy") is provocative and you are quick to resort to the ad hominem. Doesn't mean you're an asshole. You are the one who brought that up. You happened to jump in on a thread that I started long ago and continue to post on periodically; and you've brought an aggressive and confrontational approach. Now you seem upset. Well, I'm not. I don't have to define or defend who I am. Many boardmembers know who I am already (Conn=dick! ) I'm not out to annoy you. Just talk NFL on the thread and everyone is cool. dig?
  12. One of your Florida students, Free?
  13. I see. And you would be the poster boy of civility and logic, eh? Guess again.
  14. I leave that for you to sift through. You seem to drag a trail of irate posters. Do I now. Maybe they're irate because I have the guts to call them on their bullshit. Would you be one of them? Sour grapes. I see. And you would be the poster boy of civility and logic, eh? Guess again. Trying to cover for your own piss poor pontification on this BBS is no excuse for arrogance, Mister connoisseur series500. BTW...my name is Tim and I'm not as big an asshole as you pretend. OK? Maybe you just need to back the hell off with your own bullshit and realize your shit does stink. If you can understand that concept, then we will get along just fine. Dig? Oooooh, somebody's pissed because their team is going to lose most of their games and MY team will get their draft pick!
  15. I leave that for you to sift through. You seem to drag a trail of irate posters. Hmm, must be due to your iron clad logic and warm posting style, and the nice names you call people and the States and cities they live in. In the meantime, stick around the NFL thread if you want to talk football. If you just want to get into sophomoric semantic arguments with people then exchange pms or whatever. So what is your opinion? Top 5 or top 10 pick?
  16. Why would you assume anything about which team someone likes based on where they live? I lived in Germany for 9 yrs, yet I liked the Cowboys there too. How can that be?? Please. He lives in Ohio. It is an easy assumption to make and one which, unless you knew otherwise, would be a pretty fair bet. Here, I'll show you: You live in Texas. You like the Ca'boyz. See? Amazing, isn't it. Hey look! GS lives in California...ergo he must like earthquakes!
  17. I'm a little concerned about this weekend's SF @ Atlanta Falcons. If the 49ers squeeze it out, then it likely bars us from getting a top 5 pick. If they lose, then I think the chances are very high indeed. Big game for us.
  18. Why not? If I moved to Ohio [Though there are exactly three chances of that ever happening: Fat, slim and none....and Slim is out of town.] I'd pull for the local guys. Does this mean I have to stop supporting the 49er's? sheesh I kinda like the Brownies, but it's a sympathetic kind of love. My exasperation over your assumption that I was a Browns fan was based on the obvious fact that you must have had your head in the sand over the last 3-4 years, as the whole board knows I am a Patriot fan. A cursory read through the pages of this thread would have revealed that. Anyway, no big deal. I would like to see the Browns and Lions have good seasons. But if either play the Patriots, I want them to go DOWN! I'll be sure to write that down since we all know that is so goddammed important to remember. Heavens forbid somebody wouldn't automatically kiss your rosy red, white and blue ass everytime you bend over. Amazing. lol, got a problem, dude? read the very thread you're pissing in. You only need to go back a few posts. Read it. Have you? [hint: read the part I boldfaced....and you're welcome.] Well the boardmembers who COUNT!
  19. Why is Goodspeak trying to piss off everyone? Man, if the 49ers had a first round pick for each boardmember GS has irritated, then they'd.... still suck! Hey, enjoy Tully Banta-Cain. That guy is going nowhere fast. That's why we let him go.
  20. Hm. Did I mention I pull for the Patriots, too? My wife is from Connecticut. [d'oh!] A pause while you untie the shoelaces from your eye teeth. Did you happen to mention that in a thread? I mean if you had the notion of actually reading a few of the posts in this very thread where you are trying to annoy the world, you would have known the obvious. Anyway, I'll think of you and piss to your name after we get your lousy team's first rounder. Top 5, you think? I have said this numerous times om the various baseball threads. I mean, everyone here knows my wife is from Connecticut. And back atcha, big boy. Well, I read the threads where I write posts. Who gives a shit about the baseball thread? Baseball is for kids.
