  1. I can't trace it now, but I've seen something on a BB about it, or maybe had an e-mail from Mosaic that I didn't keep (unlikely). Apparently, it's only going to include records Les made as a sole leader, so the ones he made with Groove Holmes, Jazz Crusaders, Teddy Edwards & Clifford Scott won't be included. MG Edit - It's not in the Mosaic upcoming projects list yet. First of all, I say this as a fan of McCann. I have most if not all of his PJ records. Considering that MC is on record as saying that he can't see a full-blown Three Sounds Mosaic set, why would he possibly be planning, or even considering, a Less McCann set? It would suffer from the exact same drawback: There's no variation in the albums, and too damn many of them (necessitating such a large number of discs that it becomes a very expensive set). In fact, the more logical approach would be to make a Select that brings together the sets that had guests on board. I would be very surprised if this comes to fruition, and if it does, I may just have to drive to Stamford myelf to point out to Michael that he no longer has an excuse for not doing a full blown Three Sounds Mosaic set. I'll be right behind you, holding your coat. Time for another email. It's been a long while.
  2. A Love Supreme is not one of my favorites but I wouldn't begrudge its place in history.
  3. Since I have none of Henderson's Milestone material, I'll probably get it. Other than that, I echo the other sentiments.
  4. I like Congas myself but I'm buying a cd not just because it has them. If you like the Afro Cuban sound, more likely than not, you'll buy a cd with 'em. Odd choice for a poll, though.
  5. I can't argue with this list too much. I probably would have included the Complete Savoy Dial of Parker since they do have some box sets in that 7. Also, is it the view that the JSP version of the Hot Fives and Sevens sounds better than Columbia's. I don't have the JSP version so I have no idea.
  6. Actually, you wouldn't be disappointed Dan as it's a very nice disc and not all baronists have prominent roles.
  7. I happen to love baritone, especially Pepper but I can't say I'm especially gifted at identifications. I've listened to this awesome cd once and loved it. What really grabbed my attention, however, was the last selection, where I'm pretty sure the bari player is Eddie de Verteuil, not too well known. I believe the song is Webb City. Great bop session.
  8. I didn't think the Conns or RVGs were copy protected. I never had one that was. I also think the whole issue is a bit overblown. I've been of the school happy to have the music. I think many would find some of the earlier OJCs pretty bad but I've been glad just to be able to get them. I agree that we should get the sound available but we shouldn't go crazy either. However, I am intrigued by the song that seem to set off this debate, Caravan, so I plan on listening to it tonight.
  9. Looks like Mr. Sangrey has his posts back (unless he's been very busy the last few days!).
  10. Tooter, Got it last night and starting to listen to it this morning. Liking what I'm hearing so far.
  11. Hard to figure why Steppin Out hasn't been reissued either as a Conn or RVG. Whatever form, it is way deserving.
  12. I checked the id that he gave and although it was as a buyer, he had 100%. Did he sell you a bad cd under another name?
  13. 2 out of 3 from the Braves, 6 game lead, heading into May. What could be better?
  14. There is no such ebay user name. I checked.
  15. Tomorrow's NYT Book Review has an article about a new book about her.
  16. Guy's got no feedback. That is enough to be wary.

  20. No major complaints so far from this end as a Mets fan. They have the chance this weekend to bury the Braves. Do I think it will happen? Hey, I'm a Mets fan and masochistic: I root for teams that end with "ets", Mets, Jets, Nets.
  21. It's one of my earliest Cds and I one love.
  22. It's kind of like a time machine, run by our moderator, H.G. Alfredson.
  23. I'll have to call tomorrow because I haven't received any shipping notice yet. Maybe they lost the order or were using the same back up server the Big O uses
  24. It's scary that these are the owners of the Prestige catalog.
