I hear ya. We're grandfathered into what is today a stoopid good TMobile family plan from 15+ years ago that costs less than a new, less "deluxe" plan. Unfortunately, multi tiered authentications are more and more the norm, and I get it, but...I dunno. Convenience comes at a cost, and consumers don't get to vet the price. I think it's stupid that you can't buy a ticket without a phone. Just plain stupid.

I still listen to funk. Feels like an organic (although not generational) part of the continuum. James Brown changed the world by being totally in it. Fusion not so much, if at all. Exception being the early organic gonzo shit, and Weather Report, who was also organic and above the world by being totally in it. They were fusions but certainly not Fusion. And time is proving them right. That other stuff...I'm sure it's relevant to it's own world, but my world is not that one. So I "appreciate" it. But it's not organic to me. Not that anything really is, but I fell in and never needed to get out.

Just ordered this new one from Amazon for $70.63 with free overnight delivery. All while watching the NBA. Life is good for now.

The last I heard from MG was a spam email, it sure looked like he had gotten hacked. I reached out to his personal email and never heard back. Before that, there was no indication on his part of any ill health or flagging spirits. I know that at one time he was bothered with less than ideal Internet service and not exactly supersonic tech support. Best case scenario imo is that he's doing fine and just got tired of fucking with tech hassles. Can't say that I would blame him for that, not at all!

It's like one of the old family sitcoms where the kid runs away from home and the parents say, okay, take care, and the kid is back in time for bed that night.

It's the "easy listening" stuff, specifically. Part of a periodic self-inflicted urge to see if anything I had long disregarded out of hand might now have some occasional merit. With this part of Getz, I find that I find him not particularly...good. But as a simple singer of melodies and as a spot player in an arranged setting, sometimes he's magnificent. And sometimes he's not. But Spotify makes it so easy to just hang out in that part of the record store at my convenience. It'll pass once it gets done, of that I'm sure.

I was not expecting this much energy...should I check out the rest of the album or quit while I'm ahead?

I like this much better than the earlier Roost version with J. Smith.
