  6. Each fed the other, feral twins. https://archive.org/details/78_idle-gossip_jackie-paris-floyd-huddleston-joseph-meyer-neal-hefti_gbia0176933b Here's another one from the same record. Superior singing imo.
  7. By all accounts, Jackie Paris was a "difficult" personality. So it follows that there would be some "difficult" music coming out of him. Anything else would be show-biz.
  8. Avery Brooks Sam Rivers Ernie Banks
  9. Oh, I think it was. That's why it's scary good. And Charlie Shavers just adds to the scare.

  16. Did they say that? It would have been an easy enough thing to state .
  17. Trying to watch Mariners-Dodgers, but it is just too sad, for too many reasons. Not the least of which is that Seattle is playing like a team with all the life sucked out of them, totally demoralized.
  18. I hope they feed the band.

  20. This is a good record.
  21. How do we know that he's not still alive and it's all of us who died? If that was the case, would anybody care?
  22. Detroit is a very interesting city and the festival is free for all three stages. So, yeah! 🤠
  23. I used to work a blues/dance gig that had a dude named Bobo who would hook you up with the biggest, fattest, juiciest cheeseburger (fully dressed) in the history of the world for a five dollar bill. Straight off the flattop.
  24. Possibly, not sure. Haven't looked into that. He's already got a softer sound here than he had on his earlier Savoy session. I'm with you, though. I prefer his sound here, and even on the first Roost dates. At first that sound unlikely, but otoh, has any Bob Shad material been licensed for anything? The Sittin' In With label is a spree of incongruity, but there are various good sides to be had: https://www.discogs.com/label/168395-Sittin-In-With?page=1 I am a bit fond of their Peppermint Harris releases myself.
