  1. Yeah, they're cute then...
  2. :g :g I'm telling you - a squirrel here and there is cute. But you get too many of them together, and they start thinking that everything is theirs. They'll gnaw their way into your attic, chew you wires, clim up in your trees and stare you down when you com out your door, they're just EVIL little fuckers. No me gusto las ardillas!!!!!

  5. I'm glad that Desmond played less laboriously than he punned! Or at least appeared to.

  7. Hey, the idea of me getting pulled into Helen Merill for Tantric sex IS a joke! And don't think I don't know it!

  9. How would the math of semi-bi-annual/ennial/sexual work out? That's one of those things I'd like to know, just not enou8gh to actually figure out.
  10. Ok, I've got that same cover on the CD issue of, I assume, the same material. Thanks!
  11. I also really, really really like Merrill's refusal to use vibrato except only when it needs to vibratoate. That's what seals the deal for me. Very few singers have the guts to just HOLD a note straight like she does, you always hear a little sustain and then vibrato, like it's a reflex, not an intentional move. I also like the way she ends her phrases. Helen Merrill's best singing stares at you and dares you to stare back. If you do, you're in for an intense session, assuming the Tantric thing works for you, which, of course, it doesn't for everybody.
  12. You got what it takes? Well do ya, punk?
  13. I've never seen a Moon LP before. Can you post a picture sometime?
  14. Yeah, it's that whole energy-of-stillness intensity...I like it.
  15. How about federal funding for squirrel killing. Put me down for some of that, please.
  16. I like them well enough, but they don't get to me too much. Merrill, otoh, there's a Tantric quality to her singing that really pulls me in and keeps me in (no pun intended...).
  17. Can't agree with any of that. sorry. Then again, I don't really care for any of those singers you mention, especially Southern.

Just received from reputable local source: Those who do, please do. Those who don't, please do what you do.
  19. What can I do to encourage this? These damn squirrells are getting a little too many and a little too comfortable in these parts. Plus, when they look at you with those crazyass squirell eyes, it makes me want to go buy a .22 and go postal on their furry rodent asses. I've got quite enough squirrels, thank you.
  20. What better way to show your admiration of something than to insert yourself into it?
  21. HA! Judging by the copiosity of the acorns in my yrad (and they hurt like hell when walking on them barefoot), there will be a 2012 in Texas. Wheter that's a blessing or a curse, I don't know.
  22. We've got oak trees in our yard here and there's acorns aplenty...think it might have something to do with the rains/flooding, or did you guys not get that? I'd wonder too...acorns are the tree's mechanism of reproducing, so if it's deciding to not reproduce, I'd have to wonder why not...
  23. Ok, let's talk about timing... Sounds fine to me...
  24. For me, it's about her sound, period. Just her sound and how it occupies its space, what it lets in and what it keeps out. It's very pleasing to me how it does those that. Don't know that I could be more specific than that, or that I'd want to. Having said that, some of her things are just too morose for my taste. Haven't dwelt on those long enough to decide whether that's on her, her backing, or the recording, or all of the above. As ((rightfully) well-regarded as Dream Of You is, though, I prefer this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv3qIZ03mBI Ok, I can get more specific. I like how she handles her vowels. But then again, that's what I like about any singer of this ilk that I like.
  25. Didn't know that Moon ever did LPs, but what they released of The Lost Quintet on CD was nothing short of jaw-dropping revelatory. And yes, they are bootlegs. Oh well!
