  2. I've got a gig tomorrow night too Al. At an Ethiopian restaurant. Not sure if there's a TV at the bar or not...not sure if I want there to be one...
  3. Oh, I know it, and I know that if any team can come back from this, it's my Rangers (yeah, I'm calling them mine from now own), everybody did everything they could possibly do to win except get the last strike. And how that happened as it did....I may neverr understand. But in my mind, I know what it would have felt like to have gotten them, and in my mind, my Rangers are humbly and sincerely asking for both forgiveness and for just one more chance, both of which they will get. In the meantime, next time you see a cockroach, don't try to be humane in killing it. Just crush that son-of-a-gun until there's nothing left of him except parts and goo. And then....stomp on it until there's nothing left but a wet spot. There was soooo much of it, and I'd like to take it to bed with me for a while.
  4. That's Cloris Leachamn, and your guess of my post is right, as far as occupation goes.
  5. There for a little while before and during the game. I saw in my mind and felt in my heart what a win in this game would feel like. It was a beautiful thing. Even if that's the only place I ever again see it and feel it, it will always be a beautiful thing, made more beautiful by how the things that crushed the evening's final reality did not, will not, and cannot kill the things, the real and the imagined things, that made all that beauty so wondrous in the first place. And so comes Game 7.
  6. "Professional/amateur" is ultimately a business criteria, "virtuosity" a personal one. Sometimes they conspire with each other, sometimes against. But whenever one starts getting too comfortable with itself, it's up to the other one to knock it on its ass.

  12. Maybe I'll dress up as Phil Spector, LTB as Cher, and answer the door with this playing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38rny8Ce-Wo That's a real record, btw. Spector recoded a few sides with Cher @ the peak of her 70s fame, pretty scary stuff all by itself, but knowing the whole Spector backstory now...nothing says BOO! like Homicidally Inclined Psychotically Frustrated Megalomania!!!

  14. Let's go with this one instead:
  15. Couldn't really go with this any more, since it's all come back around...but this is as scary as anything out there, and not in some cartoonish way...

  22. Back to seriousness - I'll be getting this set as soon as I get the Chu Berry, or maybe get both at once around birthday time. Must-have sets for tenor geeks, both are, and for a good many non-such as well. Now, we've got Hawk, we've got Chu, we've got Pres,,,when do we get a Don Byas set? That would be totally awesome.
  23. It's easy - David's been married about 6-7 years now, long enough for the linear logic circuits of the brain to short-circuit. This results in people hearing only what they want to hear and then turning it into something that removes them from reality as quickly as possible. We've all been there, but with any luck at all, something shocks us out of it and we return to the logical world where we pay attention to details and regain the ability to discern nuance. Until it happens again, which it most most certainly duz*. But that's part of the price you pay to not be lonely all the damn time, and to be happy a good portion of it. Marriage is a trip! * - DUZ
