  2. http://www.middlehornleader.com/Kenton%20Mellophoniums.htm That was one of Kenton's better bands, I think...interesting to hear how the addition came about and how unfavorably the rest of the band took it...and how/why it came to an end. Also an interesting sidelight about the band being in England when JFK got hit.

  10. I've spoke to somebody who would know if there was any anywhere, and the answer is not yet, and unlikely indeed that there is. Unlikely does not mean impossible, but...
  11. Assuming that you want answers to "?", blanks, etc,. apologies if that is a misread.
  12. Thanks all. I had to get a plug-in for Foobar, but it went in easily. Now I just need to get an .ape file or two. But yeah, FLAC FTW...seems inevitable at this point, eh?
  13. Very rarely come across this format, so don't have a player for it. But...is the format itself anything "special", and if so, what's a good, simple, free player for somebody who doesn't want to have to tweak as much as an eyebrow? 18. Wait, Lee Meriwether played bass with Bill Evans on a gig at the Jazz Record Mart? Exactly. With Barrett Deems on drums. No, no, no - Roy Meriwether was married to Lee Meriwether, and Bill Evans played their wedding reception, which was held at the JRM. Barrett Deems was nowhere to be seen, at least not that day.
  19. amazing....who knew?
  20. Billboard was/is weekly. If you don't know what it was/is, you should take a little time to do some research. It is to the record business what Variety is to movies & theatre, and yeah, it has a very long history.
  21. Actually, we did. The family was together, and we ate, visited, cracked wise, same as always. The trappings were certainly different, but the core - the family - was still three, and, if anything, more in touch with the meaning of "giving thanks" than in quite a while. It might well have been the most "adult" thanksgiving ever, because for once it was not about self-indulgence. This one was about being thankful & the joy that comes from being able to feel that feeling.
